View Full Version : Reincarnations in Europe ??

DEVS --- I am a European player, and I have seen a line in the recent MMORPG.com article :

http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/163/feature/3958/page/1

Two new types of reincarnation have been introduced as a DDO Store exclusive as well, allowing players to fully respec existing characters, including multi-class choices.

Can you confirm that Lesser and Greater Hearts of Wood will be available through the Store ONLY, so that European players will then have no access whatsoever to these new types of Reincarnation ?

I would honestly prefer to hear that you are URGENTLY working with Codemasters to provide European Players with an overall solution for Hearts of Wood availability, except that based on past performance I have a hard time believing it, so that I tend to be thinking that when Update 3/Mod11 goes live in Europe, no such solution will be on offer for us.

Alternatively, is the article just plain wrong, and will the Lesser and Greater Hearts of Wood be obtainable by some sort of in-game method as well as through the Store ?

I would honestly be VERY angry with Turbine if the article is right, and if no solution for European players has been developed, so that these new forms of Reincarnation were completely unavailable in DDO Europe !!!

Well here you can get Greater hearts by doing epic content earning tokens and trading them for the greater hearts maybe they can do that for you guys

Can you ?

a) last time I talked to the Epic Trader on Lamma no such possibility existed in the UI. I'll check once more.

b) even IF that were true, would lesser and greater Reincarnation then *only* be possible for uber endgame 20th level toons able to complete multiple quests in Epic ? What about people's 10th level toons needing a quick respec ?

c) also quite frankly the Epic tokens for (BTC !!) Hearts of Wood is an Epic failure -- the more casual players in Europe cannot access them, people's more gimped toons actually *needing* the Reincarnations are unable to acheive them by virtue of being too gimped for Epic, and the amount of Epic grinding required in Europe is substantially larger than in the US game even *when* you have the capability.

Well hopefully they will come up with something for you guys after it would only be fair.

Yeh -- and hopefully they can come up with something *before* the release of the localised European version (which I *hope* will be imminent instead of the usual 1-2 months' delay) so that we don't have to listen to 6-months' worth of "Codemasters and Turbine are discussing this issue, but I am not at liberty to provide any more details at the present time" from Dnote on the Euro forums, and can just enjoy the new game feature instead...

Just visited Lamma, and can confirm again that, presently, only True Hearts of Wood can be obtained by trading Epic tokens, and no other types.

Sorry I can only offer my sympathy and hope that it changes for you. Maybe someone will see and get something rolling.

This issue has been brewing for well over **3 months** now, and all that we ever hear is that Turbine and Codemasters are in negociations over the issue of (LACK of) easier Hearts of Wood availability for European players.

Well sod it, everyone's patience has its limits.

It's time for :

Less talk, more action !!!

Get your bloody act together Turbine, it is COMPLETELY unfair that European players should have this restricted access to important new game features simply because of ongoing legal disputes with Atari preventing deployment of DDO Store in our Region.

For all the good it does I support my Brothers and Sisters in Europe on this.

It would be good if some sort of dummy store that CM could run in the iterim could be implemented. No option to spend real cash but at least have the option to gain the TP's and use the store.

It would stave off a lot of current issues and would be a quick fix until issues are resolved.

A lot of the new updates are going to be store related and it's going to become nasty unless it's resolved presently.

Unless there's other plans for Europe?

I can understand if there are reasons that DDO:U cannot be deployed in Europe at this time.

But to put in important systems like respecs in the game than can then only be obtained via a non-existant DDO Store is completely unacceptable and extremely disrespectful towards the European players. Get a grip, Turbine.

My questions are very simple -- is this actually a DDO Store exclusive that will therefore be unavailable in Europe ?

Or is the article mistaken, or have some other measures been taken to ensure some sort of availability for Euro-DDO customers ?

---

A lack of response would in fact constitute a response - which could easily be interpreted as : "we don't care about our European customers".

Ok - I apologise for the stressful nature of my past comments, which were motivated by a certain sense of frustration.

I am regretful if those comments may have been hurtful to anyone. :(

---

There is actually an alternative scenario as to why the Lesser and Greater Hearts have been (apparently) created as DDO Store Exclusives than "Turbine doesn't give a **** about Europe".

Atari and Turbine are currently engaged in a series of mandatory Court-moderated negociations towards potential settlement of their dispute.

It is possible that these negociations are proving towards being successful, and that preparations for the implementation of DDO Store in Europe have started.

It is possible then that lack of out-of-Store availability for these items may be a consequence of some (undisclosed) positive developments concerning DDO Store for the European game.

Which company ? Atari ?

Don't worry, they're still getting your own contributions to their finances if you're still playing and paying for DDO. :D

A large % of the people still playing in Europe (including me) would simply never start again from scratch.

Agree, we can blame Atari too, but it is obvious to me that DDO was ruined by Codemasters. I think that there r only two posible explanations of current situation. First explanation is Turbine dont want Codemasters to still run DDO and is doing everything to ruin EU players gaming experience.
But more likely is that Codemasters dont give a sh*t about it. Turbine was preparing launch of DDO:EU for a year, it is not possible that 2 companies, willing to cooperate, cant make new agreement if they have a year for negotiations. The only explanation is that one side dont want to cooperate, and judging by great support we had from CM for the past year, i blame them.

It is possible then that lack of out-of-Store availability for these items may be a consequence of some (undisclosed) positive developments concerning DDO Store for the European game.

Just as an Update for US players, last week Codemasters announced via Dnote that our Module 11 (Update 3+) is to be delayed, seemingly because they are working on some plan for the long-term future of DDO.

There is some confusion as to what this actually means, the various reasons preventing communication haven't vanished, and some pessimistic views are that DDO Europe may be shutting down -- but personally I think it more likely that DDO Store or some Store-like functions (including F2P) or possibly some unusual hybrid solution (bearing in mind that Freemium is actually fairly unusual for starters :D ) is being prepared for Europe, which should get the European game back up to speed with US, and will hopefully be attractive to old players, to the current player base, and to 1000s of future players as well.

Codemasters are mentioning long-term plans for DDO Europe, and realistically these would require at least some element of F2P. Although it has to be said that various forms of local variants of the basic business concept are easily imaginable, hence some confusion atm :)
