View Full Version : Question about monk/tempest build

First off, is it even worth bothering with? Would a 6rng/14mo using kamas be effective as simply staying full monk? Does the Tempest increase in attack speed combined with the higher base attack make up for, or surpass, the natural attack speed increase of staying pure monk? Would the Ram's Might addition to damage help contribute?
Apologies if this has been covered already, and thanks in advance. Still a little bit new to the game, so I'm not fluent in all the super top-level gear that can really help make or break a build.

I'm no expert by any means, but my impression is that (A) kamas always suck and (B) it's hard to beat an unarmed pure monk for DPS (if you have the right equipment & stats, of course). Most builds using monk I've seen either only splash a level or two (for the bonus feats, WIS AC boost, and/or Evasion) or stay pure.

I'm actually planning up a simple Dwarf 2 Monk/18 ranger. Strong saves, good defenses overall, decent HP with Evasion and great Damage potential with Khopesh. Monk brings a lot of defenses, evasion and extra feats to help with the early level strict tempest feat requirements. Can pick up toughness and power attack much earlier this way.
I agree though, conventional wisdom with regards to monk is either take one/two level splash or stay pure.

Cool. That's more or less what I thought the answer might be. It was one of those builds that looked like it might have potential on paper, but I wanted to poll the community to see if it actually had any real value.
Thanks again.

might want to think about a 8monk/6rng/6ftr for the tempest kensei touch and go down the dark path for the damage strike ( forget its name, and i dont know what lvl it is available at)
at the very least it would be a fun build to play with, and you can always swap out levels or TR later if you dont like it.
