Curious about experienced paladin players views of the zeal spell.
Assuming 10-12 wis +2 tome +6 item so 18-20 wisdom:
- If you have only 14 pally lvls, can you keep zeal up and running a good chunk of the time?
- What is the actual duration of this spell? 6s/lvl?
- If you actually sacrificed and went with say, a shroud item with wizardry VI and +150 sp's on top, would you then be able to maintain zeal close to 24/7, assuming only 14 pally lvls?

The longer between shrines, the more you will run out of SP. Some quests have lots of shrines, some have few. Some parties take their time, some zerg. Any number of things could contribute to a party taking longer than usual to get to the next shrine.
Like using Divine Favor, you sometimes have to pick and choose when you use it. And here's a hint: you want both up and running for any serious fight. As well as divine might. For the most part, I had no problem doing this at levels 15-16 on my old pally, though he started 14 wis, he did not have a wis or SP item as standard equipment, just an SP stick for shrining then buffing before switching to a real weapon. Occasionally I'd run out of buffs, but -usually- the archivist's necklace was enough for one more hit of crack to push to the next shrine.

I have an shroud SP item on my guy (with WIS 6 and lots of CHA skills for Intimidate). I also took Extend as a feat. As such, I can run Zeal for all of the big fights in a quest, and in some cases for most of the quest (depending on whether I had to throw out any resists). With a total Wisdom of 14, and with 14 Pally levels, I have 438 spell points (could be more, if I had crafted differently). It's more than enough for me, especially since I always forget to refresh my spells.

Extend is a VERY helpful feat to have for a paladin.

Unlike eschew materials, which is almost completely worthless on any build...
But yeah, it works well. Might have a bit of trouble implementing it though if your serious about your offense.
