Hey hey

Read lots of the threads here. Already made my monk and took her to 7. Still got some questions, so would greatly appreciate any and all help :-)

1) Two weapon fighting & relatives: Is their importance based on the high-level, dual kama usage? What's the benefit of dual kamas, when their dmg is so low compared to your fists? If yes, then would this mean that high level monks sacrifice dmg in lieu of enjoying the larger amount of effects wielding two items yield, as opposed to a single set of handwraps?

1.1) Does using kamas *really* mean you'll have the same amount of attacks as if you were barehanded?

2) Read that weapon focus isn't that important really. Thus, how do monks cope with the sub-par to-hit progression, if it isn't by grabbing feats and stuff like this one?

3) My monk isn't strenght based. Well, 14 to start with, but beyond the +6 item and +2 universal tome, not planning to put anything else in there. Is, then, stunning blow still an advisable feat?

3.1) I suppose I shouldn't even be looking at staves if my str won't ever go beyond 22-ish, right?

And this'd be it for now! -I hope haha- Any answers and imput or advice of any sort will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

1: Two weapon fighting is advised not for kamas, but for unarmed attack.
Each TWF feat adds extra attacks onto the attack animations your character makes.
Once you have all three feats, your first three visible attacks in your sequence will be two hits apiece, while the last (the spinning jump kick) will be three hits.

2: No. Unarmed attack animations for monks are about 12% faster than kama animations, thus more attacks while unarmed.

3: That strength is perfectly fine, you'll have no trouble ending up at 22 with a +2 tome. Do not take Stunning Blow, take Stunning Fist instead. Stunning Fist is the monk-only one, the DC scales with level and wisdom modifier.

3.1: Correct. Unarmed is the only effective means of damage for a monk in endgame. Any other weapon configurations, while they may very well -work-, are substantially sub-optimal to the faster attack rate you'll have with your 2d10 base damage fists.

1a – No. The full TWF line affects both dual kamas AND Fists
1b – by pass DR & wpn effects/boni
1c – some do, not many though

1.1 – Unfortunately no

2 – that is correct. When centered Monks are considered full BAB

3 – No

3.1 – if you use Wpn Finesse, then no. If you use STR for to-hit then there are certain cases where staffs would be beneficial.

Thank you very much indeed!!

I can log on and ditch a misstakenly chosen feat or maybe two now haha! Thanks God I'm still 7 and switching a feat won't imply having to sell my car and getting a mortgage on my house to pay for it hahaha!!

Thanks again guys! :D

Have you used your free feat swap? If not, I would save it, but you do get one.

No sir I haven't yet, which is very good indeed, since I did commit the mistake of grabbing both stunning blow and weapon focus: bludgeoning. So at least it won't hurt as much haha :)

Will replace one of them with finesse, and the other one with hmm something, guess I gotta go over some of the builds posted here once again. :)

Thanks again!

Oh wait lemme edit this to add the feats I took already, maybe I can muster some advice on the way :)
(Human)
L1: Toughness
L1: Dodge
L1: Stunning Blow <--- mistake #1, will replace with finesse.

L2: Stunning Fist

L3: Two Weapon Fighting
L3: Monk Path

L6: Weapon Focus: Bludgeoning <--- mistake #2, will replace with... hmm... dunno - yet!
L6: Power Attack

Cheers

You can't replace a lvl 1 feat with finesse, it requires BAB +1.

Replace TWF with weapon finesse, then replace stunning blow with TWF
