They still need a lot of editing, but they are there for there who needs them right away.

Borror0,
I would ask that you make Aranticus' Guides editible by all Registered users and not just by those with Superuser and higher privileges.
My understanding of the purpose of the Wiki "movement" is to diffuse the "Access to Information" enjoyed by "elites," if you will, and provide access to information to All.
From that "other" thread, it sounds like adequate safeguards are already in place to recover quickly from a malicious user's attempt to harm the Guides.
Thanks.

The worry is that guide are the first thing to be edited with ludicrous comments and are rarely, if ever, edited to contain better information. In over two years, I have seen only one instance that I can remember of someone really editing a guide to the point where it became useful. Basically, it's a lot of reverting bad advices and very few good advices coming in. Because of that, I would feel less bad to set stricter rules for those to edit the guides.
By stricter, I would mean users who have proved that they can make a few useful edits. I'm pretty generous about granting that status, usually. If it's someone from the forums that I know can write some decent stuff, I'll often just upgrade him or her the moment he seems to stick around for a while.
With that said, I'm still weighting the pros and cons. I'm not sold on the idea yet because, like you, I like the idea of letting everyone edit them.
If you guys want to chime in and tell what your point of view is, I'm all ears.

Speaking as a new player who doesn't know enough to contribute to guides in a meaningful way, I'd rather be fairly sure something like Guides was solidly written, so while I generally come down on the side of openness on a wiki, for this specific thing (whether Aranticus' guides or not) I think I'd personally prefer you left guides as editable only on the higher level accounts.
There is a 'discussion' section to go with each wiki page anyway - imho that's the place for plebs like me to comment and if the guide author or other 'trusted' individual wants to read the discussions and take anything on board, then they can edit the guide in an appropriate way.
My 2 copper, since you asked for opinions.
Glad his guides won't be disappearing all together, and its nice that they are all grouped together nicely on the Wiki. I was worried I'd have trouble finding them on there.
Since I suppose he won't be coming back here, thank him for all his hard work on the guides/wiki
