Hiya,
I stopped playing for a year and a half and now im enjoying the content I missed.
Just tried Bastion of Power for the first time yesterday with our duo of warforged (fighter20/sorc20).
Sure I liked the challenge of the devil battleground quests, but we got stuck in Bastion for a reason I cannot figure. We fought our way up to a spot where 3 levers are (pulled with ranged weapons). From that point, we figured we needed to be 3 to finish this quest... but I see some people posted screenies of doing it solo... so I'm thinking we did'nt really need to be 3 people.
What did I miss? any way to get to open the upper room doors?
I also noticed on the screenshot that people got around 30 kills in that zone... in the 2 hours we spent there... I had over 300 kills. I'm guessing they are roaming around invis sneaky to pull levers and not pop portals. I might be wrong.
Any tips would be welcomed, as I cannot find any relevant info on that quest.
PS: If someone could also tell me if players in group, outside the dungeon affects the dungeon scaling thingy? Coz we usually run with friends lower level in party, just to chat.

the 3 ranged switches unlock an optional chest, they are in no way necessary for completion
only people actually in your instance scale the dungeon; bastion is just that hard.
Remember the portals have abysmal hp; a stronger strategy is generally to ignore mobs and kill the portal, then clean up trash. With only two, you may need to kill barbazu, but if you try to clear each room before destroying its portal, you will fight 3-4x as many monsters as necessary.

Those 3 levers open a bonus chest when struck simultaneously. It's not necessary for completion.
Invisibility does work quite well in Bastion (though there are some Bezekira which can put a crimp in things) and Stealth works good too.

You didn't need to hit all 3 levers to complete the quest. Those levers are for an optional chest which remains locked until those levers are all hit at the same time.
Bastion is a pretty straight forward quest.
You start out looking for the 2 switches on the first floor which allows you to step on the button which lights up and then raises the gate. Make you way upstairs and find the door that leads to the second level. By the way, the switches and the doors are in random locations.
Once on the second level, it's the same thing, work you way around til you find the door that leads to the third level. The door can be on the first level of the second or you may need to go up some stairs to the 2nd level of the 2nd level to find the door, that's where the chest is located. I know 2nd level of 2nd level sounds strange but that's the way it is.
Once you go through the door to the third level, you will be in an outside area, just run and pull the lever and go across the bridge to the third level. On the third level, it's easy. Start by going right, kill, pull a lever, then go back and go left, kill, and pull another lever, move ahead and kill 2 orthons, now go back to the shrine and use.
Now go back and up the stairs and pull a lever, and proceed to final battle. Make sure all party member go through at the top of the stairs at the same time, a gate will come down and lock others out.
I won't spoil final fight for you, have fun....

Without spoiling the Quest;
Best way to deal with portals is to not to allow them to spawn.

wait til you get to the end fight......
As for the rest of the dungeon, I find taking out a cleric near a portal to be number one.
If you have high AC, I would then just beat the portal.
If you are not high AC I would think about doing something, as stated above, with the devils as they hit nasty.
The end battle...I have seen it done a lot of different ways, some great, some not so great, but all depend on the party.
I find with my high ac, high intim fighter, in stance, I can hold the queen in one spot most of the time and whack on her, you can usually see her knockdown coming and shield block through it. I try to keep her in a firewall. Other than that I mainly see a kind of kiting aggro through lots of firewalls and blades.
Hopefully someone will tell you the way to get rid of the first named boss easily as well as get that third chest...I can never get up there with my fighter.

I did'nt die once in the 2 hours of hack and slash in there. My gear did get a beating like never before tho... my docent was almost broken when we gave up.
The portals were'nt really a problem... What we did was to pull the entire room in an already cleared room. Killed em all, clerics first, as they like to command me to take a nap. We gave them a taste of their own medicine by having them dance a nice polka. Went back in the room, killed the 2 devil respawn and I beat the hell out of the portal (which I did'nt find too bad to destroy).
I did read that by removing some levels and FoD the guy who spawns the portal seems to prevent the portals from spawning. We will try this.
As for the end fight, I understand that some jumping is needed for first boss... I usually fair good in those, FPS/plateforming skills are a plus. For the marilith, I'm guessing that usual demon queen tactics we used when cap was level 12 will be enough... well I hope !
This quest is really challenging for non-raid geared toons... gotta love that challenge... too bad we gave up in front of those 3 levers.
