I was recently forced to replace my harddrive, which due to my warranty was replaced by Dell. One consequence of this is that (as my laptop is 2.5 years old or so) I seem to have recieved much better graphics drivers than I had previously had (despite having upgraded regularly on their website). One consequence of this is that DDO now detects a higher recommended graphics setting (medium instead of low) and I'm able to use the Video Post effects which I otherwise would never have enabled.
On the other hand, disabling them now looks far, far worse than it did previously, which concerns me; I'm not actually sure my hardware will be able to handle running the post effects during raiding, and I've always tended to play in a custom setup (low, with a few specific settings jacked way up like object draw distance for sight advantages).
I'm concerned that the post effects will occupy so much more of my hardware (since it is unchanged) that I'll be unable to play with them (I confess I could live without a lot of the blurred vision effects on things like abundant step that I'm not used to, too, but I might adjust to that).
Does anyone know what other settings effect the rendering of DDO's water so I might be able to adjust them should I end up going back to no post effects and not wanting anything that looks like water to be a huge, white glowing field on the ground? (it used to simply be a flat transparency, which looks terrible but isn't distracting or problematic .. the glowing transparency very much is a problem in quests that involve thin layers of water on the ground).
