Principle tanking by Intimidate

Hi,

i read some text abou tanking by DPS and Intimidate. If I understand it right, tanking by DPS (i suppose with THW or TWF) is runing around and hiting all enemy. But i can't understand how i can tanking by Intimidate.
I have one hand weapond and shield (less DMG then THW or TWF). Use Intimidate to one enemy, to another hiting by weapon and wait to cooldown Intimidate for next use? Or Intimidate have area effect?
And what is the best way to tanking, please?

Intimidate is a skill that has a effect on a limited area. It "draws" the agro on you, making it extremely effective for tank types to remove unwanted attackers from high dps classes with low hp and AC such as sorcerors and wizards.
That said, intimidate needs an investment on Charisma, its main stat. So it works better for characters with 10 ou 12 charisma for fighters and barbarians. (you can put more on charisma, but i think it would cost too much stat points if you want a dps or tank build).
I, personally, think Intimidate is more effective and faster than running around hitting everything. That said, you must remember that Intimidate is a SKILL, so it will relly on a roll (d20) plus your modifier (defined by Charisma Bonus + Itens equipped + Buffs).

Intimidate is a skil that has a effect on a limited area.

How large is area?

And what is better : 1 hand weapon + shield or 2 handled weapon or two weapon fighting?
Can you recomendet this stats (probably for dwarf fighter)?
Str: 16+2
Dex: 14+2
Con: 16+2
Int: 12+1
Wis: 8-1
Cha: 12+1
Or exist some better combination race-class-stats for tanking?
