Okay, so Perfect Self gives you DR 10/Epic. That's nice, but what else does technically being a Lawful Outsider do for you? And what the heck is Abundant Step - a boost to Jump? Some sort of movement speed boost?

Abundant Step lets you shoot forward about 20 feet or so in game. It's useful for getting to places you normally couldn't with other classes, (minus the FvS, who has leap of faith), or for flying through traps, etc. Great for kiting too.

Becoming a Lawful Outsider means you are immune to all spells that would affect a humanoid, such as Hold Person, Charm Person, etc. Also if you are a halfling, then halfling bane will not work on you anymore, but Lawful Outsider bane will.

Being a lawful outsider has a few benefits, you are no longer a "person" for the purpose of the Hold Person spell, you are no longer a <insert previous race here> for the purpose of bane weapons, if you are a warforged rust monsters no longer think that you are so yummy. Probably a couple of other benefits that I am not thinking of.

Abundant Step allows you to move a great distance in a short period of time. It is a pretty fun ability that can help you make movements that other classes can't no matter how high their jump skill is or how fast their sprint boost is, the only other class with a similar ability is Favored Souls/

Just picked up my abundant step last night in the middle of a batch of token runs.
running back to the WW side entrance I hit the button and woosh 20 or so feet ahead.

so when coming around the corner I jump of the ledge and when I hit the top of my arc ,hit abundant step and boom I'm right there at the other side. Didn't quite make it but It was close enough that i should have grabbed the ledge but didn't for some odd reason. I think had i timed the jump a bit better I would have probably made it.

other than being a pointless story look head to the harbor and look at the gap between the side entrance of the WW and gives you an only slightly long approximation of how far abundant step will take you.

Interesting. So does Abundant Step burn some Ki or something to use, like Leap of Faith costs spell points? Or is there a cooldown of some sort on it?

Also, not that it would help a level 20 monk or anything, but in pen-and-paper all outsiders are proficient with all simple and martial weapons. I'm guessing that doesn't happen here?

10 ki and a small cooldown.

Also, abundant step can have some serious side effects if you haste up and start your jump sliding off a cliff face...

You can get from the lamannia feather fall spot in the vale all the way to the shavarath side lol.

Ew, 10 ki? That's a lot. Is there any sort of ki generation outside of fights other than your twice-daily Meditation or your capstone?

No, but 10 ki really isn't much of note. At higher levels, you easily have 50-100 running around between fights, if the group is moving at a good pace. I've never been in a situation where I've wanted to use Abundant Step, but have not had the ki for it.

I have - right after my 5th abundant step when I have 4 ki left.
