Is there a specific race/class combo that really shines with +5 Mithril Full Plate? Just wondering why people are willing to pay such exorbitant prices for it.

It I'd simply the best random drop of the heavy armor (med actually due to mith.). So any non evasion splashed barbarian/fighter/paladin that is concious of ac wants to be wearing this. Like everything in the econnomy, the items value scales significantly as you go from blah +3 to eh +4 to the best +5. Players tweeking their alts want only the best.

It's all about the armor check. (Or more precisely, lack there of.) Mithral armor has -2 armor check, and even plate made out of it allows for a small dex bonus. That and spell failure is lower, but that mainly aids the medium mithral armor ranges. +X Twilight Mithral Breastplates can actually be worn by elven mages with no spell failure. Also, iirc, Mithral Chain Shirts can be worn by rogues and still allow for +6 dex bonus and without a ding to hide and move silently.

It's the best armor you are likely to have on many builds from level 8 (when you equip it) until level 16-18 (when you craft your first Dragontouched armor - where you might have a weak Sovereign rune effect, a good but not perfect Tempest rune, and a great Eldritch one).

It also seems to be as rare as an honest politician.

I've found many +1s, several +2s and even a +3 but past that I am zero for I don't know how many quests. Now I get +5 regular full plate all the time (well, comparatively) but when it comes to Adamantine and Mithril, the game ain't quite so generous.

I am curious as to what this item would be worth on this server, and also what the value of +5 Adamantine Full Plate would be. I have been watching the AH and have not seen either for a point of reference.

Well... I managed to land mine (+5 Adamantine Full Plate) for 7k plat... There was no buyout price, so I had to sit and watch the Auction (I know, right? Who actually uses the Auction House for placing bids anymore?)

I expect that the price is a lot, lot higher now than when I got it... I'm guessing around anywhere between 10-60k plat. (Depends who sells it).

The last time I ever saw a +5 Mithral Full Plate on the AH was a while ago... around 5-6 million gold. That being said, it's purely what you'll pay for it.

If someone sets it as 5 million, and you really want it and buy it, others'll be put up for 5 million. But, if someone sets it as 5 million, and nobody wants it, it'll be lowered a bit... But, someone's guaranteed to want it.

It really comes down to just this. If you really, really, really want an item, and you're willing to spend every single piece of gold you have on it (and you have a ton), you'll be able to find it and get it. But if you wait, you'll be able to get it for a lot cheaper... But, there's always the chance somebody else'll grab it before you.

I put up a +5 mithral FP about 2 weeks ago on the auction house for 3 million buyout, sat there for 4 days before I pulled it and decided to make a toon that could use it.

I would suspect that nobody thought it was worth paying that much for the 1-2 more AC than the stuff you can get for a fraction of that price. It really does boil down to if someone really really wants it, and just how long you want to keep re-posting something to auction.

I put up an add in the trade channel yesterday, and recieved an offer of 200k gold. I also recieved a tell from another who said he just sold a set in the AH for a little over a million and a half gold. I am really more interested in potentional weapon trades, actually a Vorpal kama would do it for me:) Not sure how outta line that kind of a trade would be, but the vorpals I have seen in the AH have been in the 1 million gold range, with a few dipping between 500k and 600k.

The week I posted the OP I listed +5 Mithril Full Plate for 1M buyout on the AH. It sold within 12 hours.

I know it's good armor, but I still don't understand why DPS classes are wearing this thinking it helps much with AC. If you want AC, you've really got to gear a character specifically for it.

FVS need mithril plate too, on builds without high dex.

I understand it being classed as medium, less armor check, little more dex bonus and reduced spell failure but no arcane is in medium (yah sure for umd you say but who has a umd at lvl8 that can use anything and you need light not medium) and no barb is going to get an AC worth worrying about in Gianthold - I save my mithril chain (which has far less demand) or mithrial breatplates for evasion builds (which are WAY more common then barb splash). You would think chain and breast would have way higher demand with all the splashes out there and the dex on those builds, you can use them till you get your icy's or whatever. I do like all the robe/outfit effects you get at low lvl - at lvl 4 10pts of fire resist is godly! And forget about hiding +10 at what lvl6/8? which is lvl 10 on an item.

Worrying about AC on a barb is like worrying about what modifications to buy for your hummer to get better gas mileage. I am sure some bored person does it but there is not point in it, unless I fear the case is you have way more money then you can ever spend. There are a few cats since beta rolling around that can sell 20 devil scales if they want to since all 6+ of their lvl 20 toons have all the shroud gear they need. These people have all pretty much bought their +5 mithril plate and hence why I have seen a huge price decrease on that item over the last 6 months (use to be 5 mil now see for 1 mil). Unfortunately all the new players that illegally buy plat keep those **** bloodstone prices up :(
