Which would you do and why?

For me it will be on a Khopesh, but not sure which one I want to do.

+1 point of damage every hit vs 1d4 on critical hits.

Force Dmg > force crit even 14-20 :)

Force Dmg = 19 with 20 swings
Force crit = 15 with 20 swings with a threat range of 14-20

do the math, its a no brainer to do the force +1 on every hit, its not even close.... many creatures lol cant even be critical hit, if you need just a shove in the right direction

I agree, force damage wins.

And starting two threads with the same question at the same time is generally considered rude.

+1 point of damage = 19 points in 20 swings average every hit vs 1d4 on critical hits.= 10 points (12.5 if kensai III) every 20 swings on average.
... as noted... given you hit on a 2.

I think the OP realized that the location of the previous one was mistaken because fighters aren't the only ones to use melee.

Force Critical is much cheaper, and if you have good stunning blow then it's better damage. Otherwise, force ritual is better marginally the higher the crit range goes (19-20 crit range it's the best, 17-20, its better, 14-20 it's slightly better w/o a good percentage of stunning blows).

If you're poor, I'd go with force critical because you can always change it after you've gathered your expensive other ingredients.

That's the assumption, isn't it - it may be true in pre-Epic content, but at endgame, almost noone hits on a 2, plus foes are often stunned by Weighted weapons, allowing auto-crits.

I think the two are quite close if using a weapon with a threat range that isn't tiny.

Example: Khopesh with Imp Crit (17-20), hit on a 9, Bloodstone:

% of hits: 60%
% of crit threats: 20%
% of confirmed crits: 18%

Damage from Force Ritual against a foe that isn't stunned: 0.6 per swing
Damage from Force Critical against a foe that isn't stunned: 0.45 per swing
Damage from Force Ritual against a stunned foe: 1 per swing
Damage from Force Critical against a stunned foe: 2.5 per swing

In short, Force Critical comes out ahead if more than 10% of your swings are at stunned foes, making it superior (generally) in Epic dungeons at least. Against easier content, Force Ritual comes out ahead, but DPS is less important in that content so it's not really all that important which you have.

force damage is better than force ritual, but the ingredients are harder to get.
