Hi!

I was in the beta for this game quite a long time ago (well, doh) but never quit got in to it. Recently I downloaded the free play client and realized I DO like it (just takes some getting used to and serious configging to set it to my liking). Thing now is I have a Limited Edition copy box (unopened) of the original game.. is that worthless now that it's gone F2P?? Is there any value in registering that box yet (or even possible?)

TIA
Thomas

You should get a free month of VIP, and then be a premium account once the free month runs out.

Other than that I dunno

I don't remember for sure, but didn't the limited edition come with some minor in-game item for all of your characters? Water breathing brooch or striding boots or something? If so, registering the key from your box will give you that for all of your characters as well as a month of VIP and Premium thereafter.

also you get the limited edition bonus item , which I think was some boots of 5% striding(nice item back in the day)

Remember to use the box before January 18 so that you can get 1000 TP for it, instead of 500 TP if you use it afterwards.

Oh, nice, thanks for that info! (lucky I asked now and not in a weeks time or so ;) ).

To all others, thanks for your replies, I will register my box and take advantage of the stuff I get :)

If you want two months of VIP access get a regular edition box & add that key to your account first. Click 'My Account' (on this page) and log into your account then enter the key so you upgrade your existing account instead of creating a new account. You can find those boxes on amazon, ebgames, etc. Even with shipping you can get a VIP month for about half price. After your first paid month is over and your account drops to premium then add the limited edition key for another VIP month. That would net you 1,500 TP cheap if done by the 18th like Van said.

Well this BLOWS big chunks :(
Logged in to register my LE copy and got a error message that my key wasn't valid. Checked every letter again, reentered, still same message...
My copy was sealed and bought from a game retailer so there's no way anyone had access to the code, so why is it invalid??

Contact tech support with your problem

http://www.ddo.com/component/content/article/486-tech-ticket

There are other support links out there if that one doesnt do it for you

i always get confused with getting support, i never really know where to go with what problem, and the links are quite difficult to get a hold of, it needs some digging up to find them.

Thanks, but that link leads to tech support which doesn't apply to this (more of an account issue). I've already opened a ticket there but says it takes 2-3 weeks to resolve issues and apparently my copy have to be registered within the next 6 days for full credits :/

While it may take time, it would probably be better to wait until they are open (in about 10 minutes) and actually call them on the phone. With the reply time to an email, that is not going to help you any.

Hmm, guess I could try that, but might end up confusing the matter too, I assume their phone support is US and I'm located in Sweden/Europe.

Anyone know btw if a used CD-Key would give the same error message as a faulty one?

There's your problem.
European codes dont work in this version of DDO, as DDO Eberron Unlimited is Based in America and run by Turbine, whereas DDO europe is run by Codemasters. Your European box will only open an account for the European servers (which don't have the whole "free to play" thing going for them, are months out of date, and have practically no players any more).

:( Didn't realize, so it's back to beeing a waste of money and useless then I guess :/

Not useless, the box and instructions can be easily recycled and I am sure you can get the CD recycled in Sweden. You can do that even in the UK, but only for the last 18 months.
