Ocean Stance

Hey. I made a monk, and I've got a question about Ocean Stance.

When I toggle it on, it raises my wisdom and saves as it should. However, my AC decreases by one instead of increasing.

Can anyone explain this to me?

Two things.

1. Make sure you turn off all stances, hit C and check your AC. Close the character sheet, then turn on Ocean Stance and check your AC again. Sometimes the AC doesn't update correctly. It's just a display bug.

2. Is it putting you at an odd number in your wisdom?

Are you swapping from the wind stance? If so is your dex at an odd number? Although I think that unless you are at the point where you are recieving +3 from stances its prolly a bug. If you are getting the +3 stances (greater?) and it drops your dex by 3 you can possibly lose -2 to ac and conversally if you are already on an even number for Wis you will only end up getting +1 to AC. This is a net loss of -1AC.

Seems weird but this is probably whats going on.

Are you trying to use water stance for something other than running through traps or landing a QP?

its always possible the ac label calculated it wrong
i usualy check the breakdown and add it up, most times the total on the break down and the total
on the ac label and off
woodnt wry about it too much

Could be that the -2 strength hit that ocean stance gives is making you encumbered. Especially if you are a dex based halfling. (halflings have 3/4 carrying weight capacity from the get go)

this would account for the -1 ac but he wouldn't be getting the save/wisdom bonus. being encumbered would drop him out of water stance.

happened to me a few times as an extreme lowbie, I'd click water get the animation then immediately get kicked out of the stance til i sold some full plates

it is a UI bug in the character sheet.
I noticed the same thing with wind stance.
If you have he character sheet open and go into windstance you will see the AC listed there go up by 1.

If you close the character sheet and reopen it corrects. Or if you look at the inventory screen it shows correctly.
