Lowbies, If you've already started a quest please take down your LFM, I don't want to join you for the last 2 minutes of your quest.

It would be nice of you to tell them HOW.

kindof pushy. you know if you hover over an lfm you can not only see who is in the group (anon non-withstanding) and their lvl, but where they are.
Mostly as long as its an lfm for a quest and not a trade, who cares if there are in progress lfms up? many of us are quite confident in starting shorthanded and picking more people up if they want to come along and can find their way to us.
I will slightly agree that putting , in progress at the end of an lfm listing helps, but beyond that, ???
why not rag on people who put up lfms for over an hour that will never fill. i.e.
(from a lvl 15) shroud 18-20 experienced only, need a guide.

Also consider a lot of vets do this, too.

Apparently my subtlety was too subtle.
I have no clue how to take down the LFM once it is up.
Please elaborate on HOW.
I am sure it is something easy that I have simply overlooked the last 3 months or so.

ProdigalGuru, open LFG panel, then go to "Create Party". In upper left corner you will have a box with "Advertise as looking for more players" sign. Mark off this box, and your LFM will be no longer visible in the list.

Passing the star to someone else will also take down the LFM.

That little checkbox has been the source of some drama for me, and the cause of at least 2 squelches that were probably not necessary.
Thank you very much.

The group can re-run quest after finishing it once, no need to take down the LFM.

or the simplest approach... tell people you've started by updating the lfm to IN PROGRESS. then people tend to send tells to see how much is done before they join
as someone mentioned already vets do this, but we tend to tell you we're doing it

Actually there are lots of good reasons to leave it up. There are plenty of quests I'd join in progress, its just polite for them to put 'in progress' in the comments. At lowbie levels people are generally running multiple quests so I might hop in and catch that last minute of Durks and then continue with them on to whatever is next.
So keep those LFMs up until you are done, just rememer to mark them 'in progress' :)

Maybe they annoy you but like others have said look at where the group is. Sometimes I just want a favor run and could care less if I missed some loot, or XP will be lower. If they have a LFM up, I can hop in get the favor then keep running with them for the next run. A group that isn't afraid to start questing without a full group is usually not bad.

The lfm that bothers me is the one that is still up when the party is full. How does that happen? Mine always go down automatically when the party fills. I see it quite a bit. Kind of annoying.

I will agree that putting in progress in the LFM is the best way to go but on a lowbie if I'm in a group that insists on waiting until they are full to start a quest, I'm probably leaving the group. If they don't have the confidence to at least get started, they probably don't have the skill to complete anyway.

Try this:
New players. Please put "already started" or "In Progress" on your LFM comments. That way people can see that you have started the quest, but are willing to take more.
Thanks!
