Which do YOU use, and what do you recommend for me?
Whats the damage you can deal vs. the AC bonus of shield?

Me:
I'm lvl 7 Pure Human Pali, having a dilema about whether I'm useful or not.

Stats at Creation

Wis 8
Cha 16

Current Stats with bonuses

I use a +3 Greatsword, +3 fullplate. My AC is about 25. I took the THF feat. I wonder if I should switch to using a shield so I can tank it up.

Do both. Depending on the situation you need to deal out DPS use the 2 hander, if you can block a doorway and protect the party, use the shield. Versatility is the name of the game. (Actually its DDO but you know what I mean).

I don't really see why you should take Bastard Sword prof if you already took THF.

But if you want to take an exotic weapon, make it Khopesh.

Bastard Sword: 1d10 damage, 10% chance to crit, 2x multiplier, slash.

Khopesh: 1d8 damage, 10% chance to crit, 3x multiplier, slash.

A bastard sword will hit harder most of the time, but when you crit, you'll see a noticeable difference with the Khopesh.

Alternatively, you could just use a scimitar. A little less base damage than a bastard sword, but 5% greater chance to crit. http://compendium.ddo.com/wiki/Weapon:Scimitar
