View Full Version : Are any places better than others for hunting syberis shards?

I could use a handful of exceptional shards for a feat exchange spree, but my two lvl 13 toons only amassed a paltry ~15k out of the 1 mil you need for a batch of exceptionals. Are there any particular places that relatively commonly drop higher level syberis shards?

I haven't done the math on average shards/your chosen unit of time, but off the top of my head I'd say go grind The Enemy Within in House J. Has a lot of alchemy tables to get your shards from.

Definitely go do this. It's respectable XP for either of your level 13 characters too.

depending on the classes of your two lvl13 characters, loot-running the desert, orchard and (to a lesser degree) the gianthold explorer areas can be a lot of chests in a short amount of time .. another good way to accumulate shards.

The earliest I could get a batch of exceptionals through combining simple syb fragments would be after collecting a whooping 1 million of them. Even assuming that Enemy Within has 50 alchemy tables (I'm pretty sure it has less), and that each table drops 500 syb fragments every single time (which isn't going to happen), that's still 40 runs. Being able to start with higher level shards would probably be a major improvement.

I rarely find anything else than fragments myself. I think I've only once found a batch of imperfect shards, and a couple of batches of flawed shards.

It's a grind, yeah. If anybody has a place in mind that regularily drops something higher than fragments, feel free to share.

You can get a single perfect (exceptional, or whatever. I'm fairly sure it's of the highest quality.) shard as a reward with 150 argonnessen favor. Gianthold quests.

I think the only place I've actually pulled a "batch" of imperfect shards was in shroud maybe once or twice though. Other than that, just do what I do and collect the parts whenever you can and just piece them together as you can. I still don't have enough for a perfect shard, but I do have 7 of the exceptionals, so almost there :)

Saal :)

and yes, it's taken me months of looting to amass that much :)

Given the insane amounts of fragments required for the exceptional and perfect shards, I'd say that the game design team would prefer that you just buy a shard at the DDO Store when you want to respec a feat..

think of it as a gentle nudge towards more purchasing :D

Actually, I vaguely remember pulling 16 flawed shards from the end chest in Stromvauld's mine one time, and some from one of the end chests in Tempest's. I also got one as a quest reward from Irestone once, and I can't remember how, but I came by a normal shard with one of my toons.

I guess those were just extreme cases of luck then.

The inspired quarter seems to be dropping them like gangbusters. I got 5 siberys shards from 1 run through of the quests.
