Was zerging through both Madstone and Wiz King the other day, and a couple times managed to get Dungeon Alert up to level red by the time I got to the boss. First spell I tried casting was disintigrate. I also tried a couple other spells level 5 or higher, and found that as long as dungeon alert was at red that they were completely immune to any spell I had.

A lot of boss abilities super-power at red alert; lots of random named mobs gain ~30 armor class as well (try zerging to the orange orthon in rainbow on red sometime, even on normal his ac will be above 70 until the alert goes down).
So, this is probably intentional.
The immunity may have nothing to do with the mantle: that same orthon becomes immune to all weapon flags: even on legitimate hits (like a 20), you'll get weapon damage only and any other effect on your weapon is disregarded.
Red alert is boss god-mode.

MechaStealth
and
Zergatron

Yup... DA was clearly designed for managing server load and not stopping zergers... Yup I believe that as much as the late 2007 release of Druids :p
