Ok, this is a rather odd question about the spells that both the arcane and divine users cast.

As we know, both the arcane and divine spell categories have their own unique spells. However, some spells are shared by both categories(I.E.: Both categories can use command, but only clarics can use greater command; both categories can cast dispel magic and greater dispel magic, yet only arcanes can cast Mordenkainen's Disjunction; both categories can cast energy drain but only arcanes can cast enervation, exc.;)

My question is, why in the heck are some spells shared by both classes, but yet lesser(And greater) version of these spells are only exclusive to that class?

Oh, and P.S.:Who exactly is Mordenkainen?

I'm certain my cleric has Energy Drain too.

It's that way because the D&D rules say so.

They created some cross over so that key needs can be met even if you aren't in a party that has both types of caster using spells that felt like they belonged in both, but yet left unique magic in the hands of each so the classes remained substantially different.

My god, Mordenkainen looks like dracula from the Castlevania series!

Also, I noticed that Mordenkainen made some other spells besides Mordenkainen's Disjunction; perhaps someday there will be a high level quest that will allow us to unlock more of his spells? That would be pretty sweet to have access to some of his other spells.

I think that Mordenkainen's Sword would be a good one to add.

In regard to the arcane exclusive spells, most of them can be cast by clerics if only they would have domains.
