View Full Version : Some F2P Limitation Questions

I have read alot of different threads detailing the limitations of F2P players, they can only post in the Free Player forums right? Then 2 character slots, 1 auction, limited mail/tell/storage, etc.

What exactly delineates these? I am a F2P (I haven't bought any TP with real money so I am not Premium right?) but I can post on any sub forum I please, however I am still limited w/ character slots and whatnot. Am I an exception to the general rule?

I was previously a subscriber, but on a different account [well before F2P was instated] - so any 'perks' for prior VIP shouldn't transfer to this account right? I guess I am just a bit confused at how people say non premiums can't post in certain areas but I am able to, I wonder if I have the plat cap too.. hmm.

Anyway - Is there a detailed list showing the differences between the 'levels' of player?

http://www.ddo.com/vip has the answer to most of your questions. The only thing missing is it doesn't say what the forum posting limitations are specifically. It just says limited posting.

You sure you're not on the forum account that is linked to the previously subscribed account? Because I'm showing your join date on the forums as Jul 09 which was before the game went F2P but when the game I think was in Beta for F2P?

Just logged on to my F2p forum persona to check things out.

It appears that there are some forums besides the F2p forums that F2p accounts can post in. I didn't go through everyone but there are defiantly a few beside the F2p forums that you can post.

I am going to put making a list on my to do list.

The F2P forum rules as i gather only let you post on the free player forums untill you have reached a cirten post count (not sure about the number... would guess about 3), then you can start posting on the disscussion and tecky forums i think...? not sure about the details.

...So sayeth the Funk...

The official chart is at http://www.ddo.com/vip, but it's not very detailed.

DDOWiki (http://ddowiki.com) has more details, but it's been down for an extended period and there's no estimate on when it'll be back.

No - I was in the Beta for the F2P though, my old sub forum account is DerenOrcrist.

Thanks everyone for the info, I may be in some sort of loophole but I have no way of testing to be sure (unless I go about creating an entirely new F2P turbine account). I do know that I have been able to post in any forum I have chosen, if someone figures out what that particular limitation is supposed to be I would be interested in knowing :).

Reading that vip list (short on details of course :() shows me that I should probably check my old sub account - I am technically a Premium player, so if my old sub account doesn't have 4 char slots then things may be wonky on my turbine DDO account (I purchased and subbed to DDO years ago, and only stopped maybe 6 months before F2P started up)

Wow - just checked my old sub account, it is indeed marked as Premium but apparently Khyber had some very OLD characters in it.

I am talking about pre-Korthos, with gear/items that don't seem to exist anymore. I have to try and remember what server my more 'recent' DDO sub characters were on (though I can't touch one.. my Warforged :(). Level 1 in the Inspired Quarter with quests for the Harbor, and the only quests completed are those in Stormreach. Brought back memories of pre-korthos newbie play.. less friendly than now for sure (not people, but in getting acquainted w/ the game).
