Is there a way to make a hireling not move? For example, in Clan Tunnelworm I went into the "acid tunnel". There was no reason for my hireling to take acid damage, so I clicked "Be Passive" icon, expecting him to stay where he was. Instead he followed me through the tunnel, taking damage all the way (and to add insult to injury, stood "passive" when oozes attacked!). So, is there a way to keep hirelings out of danger when necessary?

Speaking of acid, can you prevent damage to your gear by un-equipping it?

Yeah near the 3 "action styles" there's a follow/wait button to the left click that AND put him on passive and he wont move.

Yes, there is a little /split button to the far left of the hireling bar.. the top part of the split makes them stop on a dime... then when you're "WELL" past the obstacle like a few rooms past click the "come to me" button (footsteps) and they will teleport to you safely.. if you click tthe come to me button too soon, they will just walk through whatever you wanted them to not walk through.
