Folks,

Some basic questions about Smite Evil & Exalted Smite that I coudn't answer through Googling...

1) Does the damage bonus for these get multiplied by Critical hits?

Not sure based on my experience from PnP DnD, where the basic rule is: extra damage is not multiplied, so things like flaming and frost are not multiplied. However I think Smite Evil is multiplied in DDO, based on gameplay... And the definition from the compendium (http://compendium.ddo.com/wiki/Glossary:Critical_Hit_(crit)) seems to imply it does, because it says:

Critical hit damage is usually double damage, which means rolling damage twice, just as if the attacker had actually hit the defender two times. (Any extra damage dice, such as from a rogue’s sneak attack, are not rolled multiple times, but are added to the total at the end of the calculation.)

2) Does Exalted Smite's Critical Hit extenders stack with Keen / Improved Critical Feats?

Exalted Smite II adds +1 to the Critical Hit range. Is this added before or after I multiple the range due to Improved Critical or Keen? E.g., if I have have a longsword, base 19-20 range, and I have the Improved Critical feat and I use Exalted Smite II, is it 17-20 normally going to 15-20 when I use Exalted Smite II? Or is it 17-20 normally, going to 16-20 when I use Exalted Smite?

thanks!

smite evil damage isn't added dice, its a static +damage added, like power attack (which also multiplies)

even in pnp it is multiplied.

Yes, I thought that was what was being implied.

We haven't used Paladins much in PnP, so I don't think we ever really clarified that in PnP in our group.

Nice thing about online: no rules debates.

For question 2

The improved critical range is added AFTER the improved critical feat/keen etc.

Ok, thanks. Too bad... I guess that was greedy.
