The llama release notes are already up (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=206066) (keep in mind that this is part of the "new way of doing things" so the release notes may be different than what you're used to). Not all updates are created equal (but they're all created to be fun and new!) :)

The obvious difference is that the release notes have no content aside from the "Of Special Note" announcement.
For example, there are no entries along the lines of "Monsters hidden underground will no longer feel as aggressive towards Hirelings who pass by", or any other generic details.

Yeah. I'm guessing that Update 2 might be merely an adventure pack, like Fernando said might happen to in a recent interview when he explain the new terminology for updates (ie updates versus modules) but it's always good to know the official explanation.

So Update 1 was with the adventure pack Path of Inspiration.... and in that adventure pack it talks about the story of the organization (if you wanna call it that) known as the dreaming dark. The name of this adventure pack for Update 2 is "Dreaming Dark"... named after that same evil!

Alright, so a little thunder stealing shall commence!
Basically as we said before, Updates are going to come at a different pace and in different sizes. Sometimes an update will have big things. This could be things like reincarnation or new races or new classes or all new systems and so forth. Sometimes an update might be new quests or new raids. Sometimes they'll have many bug fixes, sometimes they'll have a few bug fixes, or sometimes bug fixes will happen inbetween updates. And sometimes it will be a combination of all of the above, or even some of the above. The biggest thing to note is that we're intending to do new things more frequently, rather than having a bundle of new things between large gaps of time.

See we actually had a big debate about this too and the primary reason is... the Store. See we have to call the adventure packs something - they're merchandise after all for non-VIPs. "Naming" an update can confuse people seeking to buy new quests. Imagine if we had named updates and adventure packs? It makes the broad messaging (i.e. the banners and stuff we put out) veeery confusing in those situations.
"DDO: The Plane of Nightmares now available! Buy the Dreaming Dark Adventure Pack!" To someone who's never played DDO before (and heck even to people who do play), they don't necessarily understand what "plane of nightmares" is? Is it something they can buy? Is it a bundle of stuff? Is it quests? Trying to sum that up in one line is...tricky. "Update" tells you that we updated the game - that's the most important thing to know about what "happened", and is very clear vs a flavorful "name" for that process.

This is awesome. I personally prefer if they have to be smaller to be more frequent that i'm okay with that. Seemed to me that the longer between any new content made the game seem to be not doing well. Can't wait to see what the future brings. :)

Oh sure! Just what this game needs! more easy buttons.. changing the name because people are too lazy to understand what a module is!!! This is a fundamental departure from the spirit of DnD where Modules originated! This is like changing the name of the Fighter class to Warrior!!1!!
DOOOOoOOOOOMMMMM!!!1!!!!!1!11!!
I keed, i keed! Awesome that we're getting another 'Update' so soon :D:cool:

Dear Devs,
Could you please slow down the content updates.
I haven't gotten my epic gear or TOD stuff settled and now your telling me I am going to have to work on even more gear in the dreaming dark?
If you can't slow things down to a reasonable pace I will hold you personally responsible and be sending you a bill for the legal fee's incurred by my divorce.

Okay...
I really like the idea of new content/updates coming out more frequently.
I appreciate all the answering and chiming in I've seen the devs doing in this thread.
BUT those aren't release notes! That's just an announcement! Are all release notes going forward going to be this...empty and uninformative?
Also, can we get a confirmation that only Pale Master and Arcane Archer are getting added/updated in Update 3? None coming with Update 2? No more coming in Update 3? Just sadness, and a hollow feeling where my PrEs should be?

What, you found his pack, how much more Nat Gann do you need? I'm sure he's just fine, making a new life for himself as a performer somewhere. And I assure you, this is totally not one of those things like when your parents tell you that your pet "ran away".
I think He and Sir Lawrence are planning something...... Its a conspiracy.....;) But, who are they really working for and against?

Sounds like the DDO I signed up for 4 years ago and saw 3 years ago.
Good job.

... there will be more to the 'actual' release notes when it goes live.
This does kinda make it harder to 'test/preview' anything other than the new quests on Lamannia, since we have no details on what is supposed to be changed/fixed/etc.
Oh Well. I'm really excited that new stuff is right around the corner, but have far too many characters up & coming and crafting/filling out gear/etc. to bother spoiling the surprise by previewing this early on hollow copies of my characters from almost 2 years ago.
Thanks for keeping the new stuff coming Turbine... I stand by my choice to not play on Lamannia again until there is a new copy of the Live Server characters. It really blows to have several 17th level characters there with little to no resemblence to any of my characters as they are now!
I'd much rather preview endgame content with my endgame characters as they are from Live now.

Didn't have time to read all the posts cuz I'm ingame right now, but will the character backup be more recent? I wasn't able to do anything on Lama last update since my character was created after the backup date.
Edit: D'oh! Have to have a toon that was active between April 29 and December 29 of '08. :(

Or "Went to live on a farm" where she has more room to run around. I still fall for that one!
I love the fast updates (and manageable size), but is there any news on Lesser/greater Reincarnate and respec (the latter was originally slated for update 2).

The new adventure pack will be available for purchase in the DDO Store starting on Friday December 18th. Our VIP players will get access to the new content for free and they will get first access on live servers starting December 16th!
Dear devs,
Please ... quit this charade. You aren't fooling anyone. 2-day headstart for VIPs is kind of egregious. Seriously. At this point in time, just make it available to every one the same day.

Ummm...The post in the Lama forums says lvl 17-19
This level 17 to 19 adventure pack includes 5 hand-crafted adventures!
But this one says lvl 19-20.
It contains 4 quests at Level 19, and an exciting finale dungeon that is Level 20!

Tolero, Tarrant, other DDO gods:
Any word on when you might be updating the lamannia server mirror?
I know I bring this up every time, and those that had established toons a year ago probably don't care, too much, But honestly I have 2 capped toons and 3 toons that are within 1 level of being capped and have lots of nice things on them.
a year ago I bought the game and had a lvl 10 mistake running around khyber.
It would really be swell to check out the new content, yet I am unable.
just an honest question.
thanks guys

It's symbolic. If they release everything for both at the same time, then there will be some P2P players raging about 1 of the reasons they are P2P is because they were promised content before F2P. Push out the date to a week before F2P, F2P that buy the pack will be much further behind; how often do you see the LFMs for Mindsunder now compared to those first 3 days?

Please add something like Veteran status, but allowing players to level to the highest level that they have on a character on any server. Throw in a handful of BTC raid loot based on class like the starter loot given to Vet status characters so they can actually contribute to parties.
Pretty please?

But this one says lvl 19-20.
The quests themselves are 19, with one that is 20. However, you are able to enter them at a lower (and higher) level than that and still get XP, hence the 17-19. Basically one says what their specific CR is, the other tells you who's going to be in the "good range" to enjoy the quests.

As a point of reference was able to solo them all on normal with fairly well equiped level 17 cleric, except for the final boss of the 5th quest. Not sure he can be done solo with a cleric given what I saw and tried out tonight. Think Church and the Cult end boss on steroids with SR35+ to boot and being red named....empirically his regen was on the order of 100-200 points/sec on normal.
this f2p system rocks:) i dont even have all my toons to cap. and your kicking out new quest. been waiting 3 years to see that good job BIG T.

My digging on Lamannia is far from complete, but from what I've seen and the small amount of updates my client downloaded, it seems to verify that they have finally decided to release content separate from arbitrary changes to the game mechanics.
Proof, one supposes, that the beta is finally over.

Why not call the adventure pack "The Plane of Nightmares"?
If they make
Update Name = Adventure Pack Name
they run into problems if they want to release two adventure packs in the same update or no adventure packs in an update. There is also the possibility to have confusion about whether you can take advantage of new Game features in an update if you don't buy the adventure pack.

Not sure if this has been asked yet or not, but here's a good question; Is there going to be a way to share in-game currency in the shared-bank? That would be so much more awesome than having to mail it all the time! Could just stock the shared bank currency slot and pull from it whenever needed by any toon on the server! : D You guys would be incredibly awesome MMO gods if you make that happen for me... oh, and for everyone else, I suppose... If they make
Update Name = Adventure Pack Name
they run into problems if they want to release two adventure packs in the same update or no adventure packs in an update.
And from the standpoints of both engineering and customer relations, it sucks if the names of the updates don't contain a total ordering. They NEED to be numbers so that people can tell which one came first without using a separate cheat sheet.

Yeah, but then I'd have to log in on another computer, and move back and forth to hand off the money, then log out, switch to another character, then hand the money back... it's a huge hassle. I'm just saying, it'd be more convenient with a currency slot in the shared bank, is all...
