Yesterday i just picked a VoD lfm, which needed an intimidator. Grabbed that, ok it’s fine on normal, i improved well my intimidation since the last one on normal (55 with GH atm). First of all i’m sorry about when i just misunderstood something on that lfm, who knows…


Well. What turned out? It will be mostly a "so called uber guild" raid even the lfm not really said anything about that and i was too lazy to just check the tag, and was in hurry a bit. Ofc we entered on Hard-> failed my intimidate on 1-2-3, because still not really prepared for that, and some of you guys should know how hard to equip a combined tank without any proper raiding guild… But you just easily judge behind your ‘1button simple’ guildpimped fotm erhm… builds………*thumb down*


Honestly, i not really like some of them and their dumb arrogance, and opinion about builds; here’s why:


- forgot where has been started and how


- group builds versus my allaround (PvE,PvP,completionist,soloist,lowmanist,self-sufficient) opinion-> rolling a minmaxed barb or sorc or fvs or cle honestly not a big deal! Pump the main attribute to max (str for barb for example), pump the con too on casters/cle types and get the guild for the high end loot in 1 month. Congrats dudes, you are really uber, im so jealous!*sarcasm*


All i can say i not really thinking about just how to beat any raid with a group full with “one shot ponies”. The game itself give more opportunity for me to make better toons compared with the so called *team builds*


- about professionalism: when you judging me gimp because i wear a shield too (still miss my +12 ac for proper 2wf tanking<raidloot), and because i missed 3 intimidate score for Sally hard; and i rolled again this one apr. since 1 month in US (parallel with pimping my gf and my fiancée there!); you cant be serious that i should have all options and items which i need for my build… The GOAL is (explain for the short minded ones): 5 different mode (2wf dps, s&b ac, full guard, anti caster, rogue), 74-75 unbuffed ac, tons of guards (yes i will be available to decrease my ac radically, because of the nearly perfect gear setup), more than 150 crit dmg on khopesh unbuffed when go to 2wf mode, apr. 55search/55dd, enough open lock to do all locks, 42 umd, 35-40 saves, 62 intimidate+hate aggro (when fix), 40 balance, 38/28/30/22/20/14 stats (with +2 tomes), fire/cold absorb full line, 48(block)-68(defiance)-78(titan) block dr, full spectrum of different gadgets etc. (it will be around 6month, depends on my RL. Yes i have!)


So not really professional judging sby about his/her build because still not get all of the stuff/don’t know all of the tactic in the US server, and just not really understand your ‘commands’(?)…and not so wise. Otherwise guild-slaves are pathetic there, just really can poison a game/ all of the fuss about who complete what 1st…

So, pls guys don’t forget to sign on lfm, that you are "so called uber guild"&friends when you moving again for any raid even i forgot to examine that (sorry in advance). Thanks for some of the completions, but i really not enjoy the raiding with you by the different opinions and some different ’standards’ amongst you (you can’t realize always harder to do stuffs alone than in a ‘pimped’ group and endless resources). Easier to just BLACKLIST me (if you still not did), so can avoid the similar problem in the future.Thats all.

Sat that sucks man...I'm seeing a bit of a trend with certain attitudes but I can't complain. I've done a few things in my time that could be considered "questionable" :p

But it makes no difference..the guys can say and play however they want to...Took me 6 months to outfit Rasczak on Keeper and now he's overkill on ac and intimi. Keep at it and rather stick to people you enjoy playing with. You going to get the loads of different playstyles here so rather look out for the types you prefer.

Actually, it sounds like you're EXTREMELY jealous, otherwise you wouldn't have taken the time to post this rant. Also, this game was intended to be a team game. Characters are just better in groups (which you obviously care about or wouldn't have joined the LFM) when they do their roles and try not to cross over into someone else's specialization.

See when someone says they can do with their gimp what someone specialises in with theirs and then says they can do all this other stuff too...that's undermining the specialist gimps. Not jealousy at all. Jealousy means you want what the other person wants...Sat obviously does not want what they have ;)

Problem is the amount of grind loot still missing...I would honestly say that you should maybe avoid certain roles until you sorted out on eq. With the potential DPS you can squeeze out there, maybe stick to a DPS tank until you get those opposition items and skill items sorted out

Getting butt-hurt over being called a gimp when you are a gimp is his problem. Rightfully being called a gimp then using that as a means for improvement is the smarter reaction.

We didnt fail, Sat is taking this a bit harsh on himself, noone in the group said anything about him being a gimp, all that was said, is that intim aint working so lets dps the grey chicken, it was a smooth run apart from that.

I know for a fact that he is a good player, with loads of experience, and also I know good gear takes a while to come by.

The lfm said hard, but I think the post is overreacted. Its wasnt a bad VoD run, seen a lot worse :) Much argueing could have been avoided if Sat had explained his temporary and minor lack of intimidate when joining, so the gap of expections could have been set right. Sat is an experienced player, lacking in equipment and therefore couldnt intimidate 100%, since he has just started on Thelanis.

Slight off topic. I'm a little unclear about what you mean by "unable to contribute on the DPS side". I don't think that just because you use a shield it means you don't have DPS. If your statement is that you should not take the role of a main DPS tank if you plan on using a shield, then I probably will agree with you but I think there are easily cases where you can be a DPS tank with a shield (especially if you have hate generation). I think you can definitely meaningfully contribute to DPS with a shield.

Case in point (for the DPS/Hate tank with shield) - Tower of Despair. I have seen a Defender of Siberys paladin main tank Horoth with a shield without intim. We do it all the time. Hate generation easily makes up for the lower amount of DPS compared to a THF or TWF with a few modifications. My THF barb has also been main tank with DPS but I need at least 2 dedicated healers because of the amount of damage I take (versus the 1 non-spamming-heals healer needed for the DoS). I find it definitely takes a load off the healers and minimizes the fear of someone dropping and him healing. Very few absolutes in DDO as player skill and the variety of builds are major factors :)

Before we are going too far...

I haven't got evidence (screenshot) about the lfm statement, but i joined for a normal VOD. I'm 100% sure that wasnt on the text part, and as i stated before (1st 1-2 sentence of the starter post) i can be wrong about the quest tag side (and in advance already did a small apologise about that).

My intimidate worked in 75%times on Suolomades. Was really bad only when rolled 3 then 2 then 3 then 2 etc. I tried everything to fix the problem instead of just release permanently the boss to the party. I changed my tactic only when hear/confirmed on the VC at the last 20% of the quest inti wont work/ sby at last (!) grabbed hate aggro by dual mineral picks, then i switched to PA and dual khopeshes on the boss to dish out my full dps for help to finish him. I was a bit unprepared for hard but tried to handle the best as i can for the party.
(Not really seen anybody there who wanted to take the aggro instead of me, so when i just switch mode without any sign, like sby who changed his/her mind that can be worse)

And the lack of communication really not helped. The bad tells also werent so constructive for our success...

Not really seen anything which confirmed the following thing: "Satureon, stop that, don't worry! Let someone else to grab the aggro, and you can dps, no need to intimi anymore, we can change tactic anytime, because we are an uber guild!"
If i not heard well (happens and not just with me), send a message, don't let happen similar if you care about something while you doing a quest. Oh, maybe you don't...:)
All what i felt amongst you: anything i wanted to do myself in your group just can be wrong, because was different, so i stopped them... it seems it was also wrong.

I'm a little unclear about what you mean by "unable to contribute on the DPS side".

In Vod, ToD and many other raids, you have one main tank that holds aggro in whatever fashion works (i.e., intim, hate, dps). I don't care about the DPS contribution of the main tank and is not what I'm referring to.

The other melee beat the boss down from behind. These fill the DPS role that is purely based on DPS (damage per second). If you are trying to fill this role while using a shield then you are gimp, since your DPS when carrying a shield is pitiful compared to TWF or THF.

It's a simple fact. When my intim Valkyrie tries to melee it's pitiful. I consider Valkyrie an incredibly powerful character though that happens to be "unable to contribute on the DPS side". It doesn't hurt my feelings that I can't contribute on the DPS side because I fill my role as main tank exceptionally and without fail. If I wasn't geared out and failed as the main tank then I would be a pileon and effectively be there to collect the end reward. That's all good since it takes time to collect the gear. However, until I was geared out, I sure wouldn't be signing up for the main tank role, because signing up for a key role then failing is worse than being a pileon.

So, here's a guy that's new to the server, who could be elite, but just isn't geared out yet. That's all fine and well. I just don't understand the crying and need for this post just because he failed his role due to not being geared out. This is New Xoriat. If you want to be challenged, run with the best in the game and improve your skill then you're in the right place. Just go get your gear, so your toon is no longer gimp and can do the job. If you want sympathy and to feel exceptional when you are not then take your pick of any of the other lesser servers.

I agree, although it probably would have been wise for the intim to mention that he may have issues with hard until he gets geared up. The leader should double-check though or have a backup plan. It does seem like the backup plan was well in place since Ayspam/Plex said they had a smooth run.

You're the best. Perhaps the real lesson to be learned is that, regardless of how good you are at the game, MOST people are here to wind down from a hard day at work. Maybe if you learn how to talk to people, they'll react more positively to your impromptu DDO lessons.

When Legion has others outside their friends list (aka LFM) they don't expect the best. THey don't expect people to live up to their expectations. After all, they let me join, though I believe it is for the total Vent amusement factor than anything else.

Are they all my friends? NO.

But I find it amusing that TWO members who were in that party posted their versions, only to be ignored by the OP. I tend to go with their facts than the OP's (one I could only read half of it and two, the rest sounded like "end of the world!" teenage antics. ) I believe he was telling the truth, but over dramatized the events.

The comment he was new to the server. It means he doesn't have the gear. Both Legion members who where there and commented said that he was a good player. THat's a very nice compliment, coming from them (they are not known for complimenting anyone) At least one said something like raid gear is hard to get especially if you are new to the server.

I would just move on, improve my gear and don´t bother with it, i mean if your build is going to be great you will have many more times to prove it´s worth, so no need to be upset/enoyed/*enter you feeling/reason ere*. Yesterday i just picked a VoD lfm, which needed an intimidator. Grabbed that, ok it’s fine on normal, i improved well my intimidation since the last one on normal (55 with GH atm). First of all i’m sorry about when i just misunderstood something on that lfm, who knows…


Well. What turned out? It will be mostly a "so called uber guild" raid even the lfm not really said anything about that and i was too lazy to just check the tag, and was in hurry a bit. Ofc we entered on Hard-> failed my intimidate on 1-2-3, because still not really prepared for that, and some of you guys should know how hard to equip a combined tank without any proper raiding guild… But you just easily judge behind your ‘1button simple’ guildpimped fotm erhm… builds………*thumb down*


Honestly, i not really like some of them and their dumb arrogance, and opinion about builds; here’s why:


- forgot where has been started and how


- group builds versus my allaround (PvE,PvP,completionist,soloist,lowmanist,self-sufficient) opinion-> rolling a minmaxed barb or sorc or fvs or cle honestly not a big deal! Pump the main attribute to max (str for barb for example), pump the con too on casters/cle types and get the guild for the high end loot in 1 month. Congrats dudes, you are really uber, im so jealous!*sarcasm*


All i can say i not really thinking about just how to beat any raid with a group full with “one shot ponies”. The game itself give more opportunity for me to make better toons compared with the so called *team builds*


- about professionalism: when you judging me gimp because i wear a shield too (still miss my +12 ac for proper 2wf tanking<raidloot), and because i missed 3 intimidate score for Sally hard; and i rolled again this one apr. since 1 month in US (parallel with pimping my gf and my fiancée there!); you cant be serious that i should have all options and items which i need for my build… The GOAL is (explain for the short minded ones): 5 different mode (2wf dps, s&b ac, full guard, anti caster, rogue), 74-75 unbuffed ac, tons of guards (yes i will be available to decrease my ac radically, because of the nearly perfect gear setup), more than 150 crit dmg on khopesh unbuffed when go to 2wf mode, apr. 55search/55dd, enough open lock to do all locks, 42 umd, 35-40 saves, 62 intimidate+hate aggro (when fix), 40 balance, 38/28/30/22/20/14 stats (with +2 tomes), fire/cold absorb full line, 48(block)-68(defiance)-78(titan) block dr, full spectrum of different gadgets etc. (it will be around 6month, depends on my RL. Yes i have!)


So not really professional judging sby about his/her build because still not get all of the stuff/don’t know all of the tactic in the US server, and just not really understand your ‘commands’(?)…and not so wise. Otherwise guild-slaves are pathetic there, just really can poison a game/ all of the fuss about who complete what 1st…

So, pls guys don’t forget to sign on lfm, that you are "so called uber guild"&friends when you moving again for any raid even i forgot to examine that (sorry in advance). Thanks for some of the completions, but i really not enjoy the raiding with you by the different opinions and some different ’standards’ amongst you (you can’t realize always harder to do stuffs alone than in a ‘pimped’ group and endless resources). Easier to just BLACKLIST me (if you still not did), so can avoid the similar problem in the future.Thats all.

I'm having a bit of trouble following your post, but it appears that you are upset because you joined a VoD claiming to fill the role of Intim Tank then couldn't intim the boss, therefore, leaving the rest of the 11 people in the lurch. Furthermore, once failing as the intim, you were unable to contribute on the DPS side as evident by your use of a shield in that role which everyone outside of Smokey's Guild knows is a no-no. [editorial: I'm a big fan of Smokey's Guild. It keeps my 12 year old from bugging me to group with him].

Anyway, you join a raid, cannot fill your stated role then cannot contribute in any other capacity. In effect, you are actually worse than a pileon. A pileon comes into a party and no one has any preconceived notion that they will contribute, so assume they will not and plan accordingly. A pileon sneaking in stating they can handle a primary role shares the blame with the raid leader who rolled the dice on an unproven player in a key role.

I can only guess the guild, but if it were Legion for example I would expect them to educate you, by; 1) making it clear that it was uncool to claim a primary role then fail at it, 2) call you a gimp in front of the party to make sure you got the message, and 3) completing the raid without you so that when you join the next non-Legion VoD, pull the same stunt then wipe their party that you'll realize the gift you were given by the Legion raid leader.

Sound advice. Heed it.

There are many facets to being elite/uber/leet so I've been told. Great gear, knowledge of the game, great character build, awesome twitch skills, group leadership, 1st this, fastest that, "I slept with arlos's mom", ect ect ect

Two things IMO that are overlooked:

1. The capability to eat a slice of humble pie.
2. The realization that 1 bad experience does not explain the life of a ddo player, guild or group.

Communication is a 2 way street.

While it's up to an "intimitank" to ensure they are capable of fulfilling their role, it's also up to the group leader to ensure that people in pivotal group roles can fulfill those roles as well.

So if an LFM is up for "VOD, need intimitank" and you join that group, it doesn't make sense for the leader to assume that nothing further needs to be said. Even if you've previously done that quest on the appropriate difficulty something else might change in the upcoming run, like lack of a bard or lack of a certain spell being cast that could result in roll failure.

I had a similar situation happen on my lvl 19 intimitank in TOD. Everything was fine, I was succeeding intimidate checks even on 1s....until my bard competence song ran out...then intimidate failure, people dead, ddoor up. I think I did my due diligence. I told the group my base intimidate skill and what it was after the buffs and was that sufficient? I clarified that keeping the bard buffs up was a good idea. So who's fault was it? mine, the bard, the group leader?

I have witnessed predominantly guild runs (my own guild included) where there is generally poor communication in the group in general and in particular with the few PUGers in the group, who also happen to be put in significant roles (Why would you do that in the first place?) Then when things go bad, guess who takes the majority of the blame in guild chat?

I was on the run also, I'm not sure of the ratio but I'd say no more than five brother Legionaries, the rest good reliable puggers.
Analyzing Sats post I come to the conclusion its a case of the proverbial mountain out of a molehill , he got his feelings hurt. So one must come to do the good old whaaa whaaa thread on the forum.

Totally unnecessary Sat, you of all people shouldn't have to explain yourself and like Ay and Plexy said you seem to be a good player. The variables where just out of your control on the night no biggy.

Whats the big deal? I was on Drednauht for this run and it went fine, the intim wasn't always working so i hopped in the corner and dps pulled him to help out in the end. There was just a lot of kiting involved. Saying outloud that the intim isnt hitting everytime is stating a fact, not calling you a gimp.

I haven't got evidence (screenshot) about the lfm statement, but i joined for a normal VOD. I'm 100% sure that wasnt on the text part, and as i stated before (1st 1-2 sentence of the starter post) i can be wrong about the quest tag side (and in advance already did a small apologise about that).

My intimidate worked in 75%times on Suolomades. Was really bad only when rolled 3 then 2 then 3 then 2 etc. I tried everything to fix the problem instead of just release permanently the boss to the party. I changed my tactic only when hear/confirmed on the VC at the last 20% of the quest inti wont work/ sby at last (!) grabbed hate aggro by dual mineral picks, then i switched to PA and dual khopeshes on the boss to dish out my full dps for help to finish him. I was a bit unprepared for hard but tried to handle the best as i can for the party.
(Not really seen anybody there who wanted to take the aggro instead of me, so when i just switch mode without any sign, like sby who changed his/her mind that can be worse)

And the lack of communication really not helped. The bad tells also werent so constructive for our success...

Not really seen anything which confirmed the following thing: "Satureon, stop that, don't worry! Let someone else to grab the aggro, and you can dps, no need to intimi anymore, we can change tactic anytime, because we are an uber guild!"
If i not heard well (happens and not just with me), send a message, don't let happen similar if you care about something while you doing a quest. Oh, maybe you don't...:)
All what i felt amongst you: anything i wanted to do myself in your group just can be wrong, because was different, so i stopped them... it seems it was also wrong.

I was the min II pick barb in question. I stepped in the end because suulu teleporting away during firebat waves can be death. I did this on my own initiative. I had a fun time in this run. I wasnt trying to backseat drive the party or slight your intimitank. I just did what I knew would work, got all boosted up and grabbed aggro. If dred was a WF i would have do so as soon as i saw a few intims missed. My main Runix is an intimitank so I know how squirrelly suulu's aggro is, you kept with it and did fine, moreover you tanked a VoD hard run.
