Yup, from the looks of it, this has been happening randomly to a few people since September.
A few people have made posts about it back then, and still nobody has replied to them.

Yeh tech support is great isnt it, they only way you can get noticed anymore is by typing something like; Mournlands, exploits, johnson, Hefty smurf.

Hope that helped, see ya in a couple of days

That happens to me often, but I close turbine in the task manager and reopen the game and it works, at least for me.

Ditto here... posted about it a while ago... tech support = none

Ignore it and it'll go away or something like it I guess is their attitude towards it... not enough people complaining about it to get noticed, even Milamber69's post didn't set off any filters it seems...

I had to uninstall everything, delete extra files left over, clean registry, and re-install everything. Nothing else seemed to work.

Whatever this problem is, is quite messy it seems.

Well, I haven't tried digging around in the registry for leftovers yet, can anyone tell me what things I would be looking for in there?

Read this one. About post 8 has some details on some keys to hunt for. Hope it helps.

Edit: but if you aren't used to registry hunting and removing... PLEASE be careful and make backups/rollbacks first.

Thank you very much! This should be useful.

*EDIT*

Nope, I still can't even get the launcher to open after a clean re-install.

Same here :/ I ran a clean uninstall and deleted the leftovers then downloaded the game again and I still can not get it to open I have not changed anything on my computer and still have not gotten a response from turbine. I have played and paid for this game for 3 years and I have not been able to log in for a week I am getting very discouraged.

I use crapcleaner myself.

http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/

But I know with previous TDMs and such it wouldn't get everything. I'm going to go out on a limb here, so if you follow this, do NOT blame me as this is deleting lots of stuff in your registry pretty much.

Key terms to search for in your registry...

Turbine
DDO
Dragons
TurbineRegisterGDF.exe
TDM

Now mind you, if you run any of Turbines other games you HAVE to becareful else you'll mess those up also.

In the long run what ended up being in issue was not so much Turbine's stuff, so much as it was my .NET files (from Microsoft) got corrupted. I had to uninstall 1.0 1.0 update, 2.0, and 3.0. After which I had to go back in re install all of them to get my files (not just Turbine related ones) working again. This I was able to verify due to Windows Event logs.

Also after you think you've done a full clean, hunt through your "program files" or your game directory for any folders or what have you related to them. Delete them as well. Your "my documents" ddo directory should be fine to keep. If you want to be on the safe side, make a copy of your keymap file and your pictures you want to keep, then wipe it.

After all of that attempt installation again.

Best of luck to you, because after that... yeah, got nuth'n.

Hahaha, whoops.
So, while re-installing my .NET files, I apparently managed to seriously screw something up, because now NONE of my installers work... Long story short, I have to reformat.
Well, good news is, maybe I can get this game to actually work on a clean install.

this does seem to be an issue with bad files and not a DDo isue it has become a big mess and a headache again I do not think this has anything to do with Turbine but it would be nice to talk to them when an issue like this comes up. thanks to all of you whom posted with help and tips peace brothers and sisters in arms
