Hi,
Looking to build a toon to duo with my gf's rogue.
Ideally, I want a damage melee based not-too-weak toon with the ability to wand-whip us up to health.
Looking at the options, I've therefore thought Ftr X / Cleric 1, as that enables me to wand-whip cure wands (and others).
I don't want a bard - buffs aren't long enough for our play styles.
I don't want a paladin - can't wand-whip higher level wands.
I don't want cleric spells/abilities - just the wand whipping - so won't need to bother with Wis / Cha.
Any comments? Anything I've missed? Any alternative suggestions to do what I want to do?
Thinking prob:
Human Ftr X / Cleric 1
Str 16 (10 points)
Dex 15 (8 points) Eat +1 Dex tome at 1st.
Con 16 (10 points)
Int 10 (2 points)
Wis 10 (2 points)
Cha 8
Feats:
TWF tree, exotic khopesh.
Hair colour:
Pink.
Any comments welcome.
Thanks,
KJ.

This is incorrect.
Also, if you're going with the TWF tree anyway, why not play a ranger instead of WASTING a level on cleric?

Ranger2/Fighter18. Ranger gives you free TWF and you can use wands.
Rogue can wand-whip wands with UMD skill just fine.
Cleric or FvS, if build in that way, can fight good.
Bard, if build in that way, can fight good.
Just Ranger can fight **** good, use wands and even cast Cure spell.
Just Paladin can fight **** good, use wands and even cast Cure spell.

I was under the impression that Paladins were unable to use cure critical wound wands.
Is this wrong?

cure crit wands are not as readily available as cure serious wands
to build a toon just so it can use cure crit wands is very foolish. might as well invest in umd and be able to use heal scrolls

True, But you cant buy Cure Critical Wands anyway. THey are rare drops.
Regardles of what wands you can use, if you ever get to the point where you need cure crit wands, you'll quickly find out that Cure crit wands dont come anywhere near the healing you really need anyway.
Your way better off playing a ranger. At least thenyou can get some spell points and be able to cast a few cure spells as well.
Not sure what you mean by bard spells not lasting long enough. My bard songs last 7 Minutes+ and most of my buffs are 1min/Level. that should be plenty for any quest.

You can use any wands that reflect a spell that is on your classes spell list and whose lvl requirement you meet. Paladins cannot cast Cure Crit so they cannot use the wands. One lvl of cleric would allow you to use any cleric wand or scroll that is available in game as long as your character is high enough lvl.
At the highest lvls wands will not be sufficient to heal most builds. Keep that in mind as your friends create their builds, or plan to pick up random clerics to supplement the group.

wrong, 1 level of cleric is still insufficient for 100% scroll usage. you will still need a caster level check if the scroll level is higher that your caster level. this means a 1clr splash will fail alot on high level scrolls

Hi there.. I've tried builds with the one level spash of cleric and they are ok, however why not do the reverse build like
cleric x/Fighter 2 or Cleric x/ranger 2 or Ranger 6
