I'm not pointing any fingers or mentioning any names but I am convinced that if you are level 20 and have 1 level of monk and 1 level of fighter as a splash and 18 levels of anything else.... then you are a noob and have no concept of this game.
that is all.

If the other 18 levels are rogue or ranger, fighter 1 is marginally better than monk2: 2 more hit points, a larger selection of feat options, access to a 10 hp toughness enhancement, access to the first tier of fighter tactics enhancements, and, if rogue, access to full martial weapon proficiencies.
If the 2nd monk level is redundant regarding giving you evasion, the 1st fighter level can in fact pay off quite well, depending what it is you're looking for. 18 ran/1 monk/1 fighter builds are generally a little better off in ac and single-target dps tanking ability in exchange for the lack of umd. For an 18/1/1 ranger build, going halfling is a net benefit of 3 armor class over a human build(+2 racial dex, +2 racial enhancement, +1 size modifier), but at the cost of a feat (which is usually buying Khopesh). Going 1 fighter/halfling essentially trades UMD for 3 armor class vs the 18/1rog/1monk human variant. This could be a good tradeoff if its what you're looking for in a character. There's not even a DPS loss, as halfling has +8 static sneak attack damage, vs 1d6+3 from rog1, meaning its also a very minor net gain in dps when you don't have aggro. If you can handle not having UMD, the 1 monk/1 fighter ranger variant has great payoffs, and 1 fighter is better than the 2nd monk level.
While most would prefer to go either 19 rog/1 monk or 16 rog/2 monk/2 fighter to get the full range out of the feats, the added proficiencies and ability to take twf/ic/ewp: khoepsh with the fighter bonus feats is quite valuable, for example, on a dual khopesh, str-based rogue dps build (18 being the requirement for assassin3, which provides considerable dps). If that extra feat gets you Khopesh over rapier, it adds more DPS than you'd get from the extra 1d6 sneak attack at rog19, and is further not affected by whether you have aggro (and dual khopesh str based rogues ... they get the aggro). As a final perk, picking up martial weapon proficiency permits such a character to craft a radiance2 scimitar for trash mobs, allowing them to maintain ic: slash for Khopesh instead of having to deal with the need for ic: pierce on a rapier for radiancing mobs. A str based, thf 18 rog acrobat build would benefit from the same level split vs /2 monk, since such characters are likely to have stunning blow as well.

Junts doesn't play on Sarlona, so he would have no clue who we're referencing.

We had a guy a week or so ago who had an lfm up for vod for 4 hours: the g roup fluctuated between as few as 3 and as many as 11 over that time, and when it got to 11 the lfm changed to 'need a leader' and shockingly the group dropped back to 5 within about 5 minutes of that change
I almost felt bad for 'em at that point, persistent if nothing else:P

lol this post has me laughing after what Junts posted. I guess for those not on Sarlona I should say (unless a ranger or rogue) but ppl who play on Sarlona knew what I was talking about :P

I hear that it's not the build but the player that makes the build!

That build was very tolerable with the /squelch command for even the most avid haters. This build is quite different.

Sergod is an angel that makes children smile and puppies play in comparison to Hope for Death by a Gun.
