View Full Version : My newbie build - Drow Ninja Assassin *cough* need input.

Well, basically the premise of my build was making an effective "utility" rogue. I'm new here, (and my cousin bought me a bunch of points for christmas) so I have a 32 point Drow Rogue with the following stats:

Str: 14 Dex: 18 Con: 12 Int: 16 Wis: 8 Cha: 10

Skills are all the important ones like balance, tumble, umd, move silently, spot, disable trap, etc, any skills that involves getting stuff done in dungeons

Now, for roleplay reasons, I guess I felt True Neutral was my choice (since I couldn't pick neutral evil) so I know multiclassing monk is out of the question, and I was hoping to go assassin so I was curious to what else would compliment my character well. I know going ranger might be redundant as well just for the fact I kinda think I goofed and took 2 weapon fighting early on. So perhaps I should do Rogue 18 Fighter 2?

I think I mighta limited myself a little with a few of the choices I made, but I'd like to stick to it if I can unless its really critical I rebuild for some reason. I'd like to balance a good potential end game character (which I possibly could reincarnate), one thats fun (albeit I know hard) to level, and one that others will find useful.

Any input appriciated. I know little about items, and tomes, and whatnot, so if you could perhaps go into minor detail of things I should aim for, that would be great!

The stats you have posted are actually pretty good for an assassin build. One thing to note; if you plan on using assassinate it is a good idea to stick with pure rogue instead of trying to multiclass.

The DC for the assassinate ability is 10+roguelevel+int modifer. So if you have a 2 level splash of fighter, etc you lose 2 from the DC (which is actually pretty bad).

Also drow aren't true 32pt builds (unless you double true reincarnate) they are just a 28pt build with a few extra points 'built in'.

Use rapiers for the drow melee damage/attack bonuses and you should be good (weapon finesse applies to these)

The feats I would see as critical:
Two weapon fighting line (you already took the first one)
Weapon Finesse (if you read the description you'll take it since you have a high dex)
Improved Criticals (for whatever weapon type you decide to focus on)
