View Full Version : Quests worth buying?

Hey all, I recently bought Gianthold as it seemed to be the "quest du jour" on Cannith, and haven't been disappointed. It's a great set of quests (I've gone through 4 of them so far) and feel like I got my money's worth (in addition to getting access to the forums, and the unlimited AH access, which is totally going to spoil me).

I see that Menechturan is on sale this week. I can't say that I've seen very many people running quests there lately. That seems to be the major problem with Cannith being primary F2P - the only quests I ever see in the social panel are things like Invaders! or something like Relics of the Sovereign Past, or something like that. Occasionally I *will* see GH quests, which is why I bought that quest.

I actually bought Shan-to-Kor just for the heck of it, and managed to pull two others together for a "favor only" run of all the quests there on elite. I actually ended up getting about 2k worth of XP at the end of the last chain of quests there on elite (at level 13). But I had fun with them, and got some extra favor (which is always nice) - and not too shabby for 200 points!

I'm thinking at my level (14) Necropolis might be a better option (I actually see people running quests there from time to time), but can I just buy Necropolis III and skip the first two?

Is there anything else that tends to be played commonly on Cannith that people have actually purchased? Seems like VIP people are actually in the minority on there, so the only P2P quests that tend to get played at what ends up being "most popular". So, unless we as a community agreed to go buy "X" no one would ever do that.

Thoughts, opinions, rants?

Necro 4 is another option you should consider. Not quite sure how often those are done here though, I remember having a hell of a time trying to find people to do the Abbot with after getting flagged.

Necro 3 has some of the most HATED quests in the game, with the exception of the end one. I would never recommend spending money on it unless you enjoy really weird stuff/potential train wrecks. One, for example, has everyone else in your group standing around while you lead slow, suicidal rats through a trap-filled maze. If you do this without "cheating" it will usually take around one-two hours of boringness, assuming they actually end up killing the monsters instead of just dying.

The Sands are good for levels 10-14, but you're advancing beyond that already.

I'm really fond of the desert, awesome quests and fun raid, with some really nice gear. With the introduction of epic, I'm having a blast trying to master epic running at level 20 too. But in Cannith I don't know how many folks run these :(

As for the rat one, ehh all you have to do is use your brain a bit. Not a bad quest to solo on elite when bored. But I'll agree that many of those quests are really hated (the one that did it for me to despise the series was the puddle hopping in blighted, with ever-respawning oozes)

After gianthold, I would definitely vote for the Vale, not only do you get the 5 quests there, but also the subterannean, and access to 3 raids (shroud, vision of destruction and hound of xoriat). Once you get high level, most ppl grind the shroud alot and vale quests in order to gather ingredients needed to craft weapons, and other gear. Right now until the next patch, the Shroud is closed, but once it re-opens the 4 top raids being run will be (in no particular order), Reaver, Shroud, VOD, and HOX. So you would get alot of bang for your buck as you level up. Level 12 is when you are allowed access to the vale areas. There is alot of xp to get there, and loot in quests and the explorer areas of the vale and the subteranean. If you want +2 tomes, you wil hhave a very good chance by running these quests/explorer areas.

This thread has nice reviews of each pack based on available budget:

It was recently updated and it seems that Demon Sands (on sale now!) has gotten a lot more worth it after last mod. Would be in op's level range, too.

Vale of Twilight is another must for high levels.

1 lowish one I always suggest to get is delera's which includes a couple of mid lvl quests as well most people would like to get the voice of the master I am sure.

Well, for the people I've done it with, the real problem is that last Carrion Eater the rats are too slow to avoid & the 4mins to get another one to him. Is there a better way to do that part that doesn't involve singing songs or blade barrier/chaining him through the bars?

Have to do that quest again and really hoping you know something I don't :)

If I remember correctly, and I would have to go back to the quest to remember properly if it was the last carrion or not (heh) I was able to use some of those carrion rats as fodder since they would also chase the food. This made them particularly useful to press switches - and get killed - by the traps, without having to send an army of fodder at them.

I agree with your sentiment, with Cannith being a primarily f2p server, i'm having trouble getting people to play p2p content, even content that is otherwise popular. I don't know if it weird luck, but for example, I haven't been able to find a group to do a run through delera's. So I'm at 8th level and I might end up outleveling the content, which saddens me a little given that it seems to be great content. Oh well, maybe with my next alt.

I strongly advice joining a guild. Even if you don't fill a group with guildies, normally all you need is 2-3 good people to run a quest with and be probably even more efficient than a full group, not to mention it's easier to fill a group when you start with several.

Having said this, I took a peek inside and found 2-3 deleras runs going on at the same time. One was an elite run, another on norm, so it may be bad luck. Both seemed to be led by reasonably new folks (the normal run "needed" a healer, f.ex) which is a good thing. (I'd personally hate to be zerg'd through content that is new to me, which is why I tend to just solo when I need/want to complete very quickly)

(Oh and btw, I checked during EST prime time though)

Well, one nice thing is that dungeon packs are by account, not by player. So, even though my (then) 13th level cleric bought Shan-To-Kar, my newly created Bard was able to enjoy them at an appropriate level.

Delera's is on my "to-buy" list, as well as Twilight Vale.

But today, I plan on picking up all the Sigils I need since they're 50% off!!
