Crit Rage II or Frenzied Berzerker

I currently have a 16/2 barb/fighter who I love and does have Crit Rage II and a MIN II.

the Crit rage II hits on 17-20 greataxe and hits alot.

My question is whether to go to frenzied berzerker or stay with Crit Rage II.

Is there a significant difference in DPS. I want the highest DPS on this toon. If I go frenzied berzerker now I will only have 1 point added to crit range instead of 2.

Please advise. I have been pondering for while and dont want to make a hasty decision.

It's better to crit 18-20 /x5 then 17-20 /x3. x5 15% is better then x3 20%.

So yea it's quite a difference.

berserker is for dps
critrage is for criteffects

you want dps, then go berserker

Yea FB is a big upgrade in DPS. If you want the highest DPS, Berserker it is.

Accurate numbers for a greataxe:
Crit Rage II:
17-20/x3

vs

FBIII:
19-20/x6
+6 strength
+12d6 dmg on 3 out of 4 swings (6d6 +100% glancing blow proc)
2d3 self damage per hit
Note frenzy is an at will 1 minuit clicky so you can always choose not to have the dmg active.. You only lose 1 multiplier and the bonus dice tho, +2 of the multiplier is always active while raged.

FB is such a boost to DPS I can see no other way to go with a Barb, the old critical rage II pales in comparison.

Even on TWF where you're not getting Glancing FB still wins over TWF on damage numbers... the only thing I can think of is crit dependant stat damages but then may as well be Kensai or ranger for that. FB is just that much of a brute.

I was holding off too untill I was figured out what output actually was, took but a minute then, ;)... then made the switch and am very happy with it.

So no, you may not go back to crit rage II... but FB is much better then crit rage II and should Occult Slayer or Ravager offer any appeal ... well then visit that when it come. Point is if they offer anything good can go that route if not still am in FB - "best of" PrE on the barb.

But I also rolled up a frenzied berzerker.

as long as you can pick up FB3 its well worth the switch.

if you have more than 2 levels in something else tho, you may want to consider hanging on to crit rage; as the biggest perk of FB comes at lvl 18. The two preceding tiers are rather lackluster.

With my 16/2 I can still hit barb 18. So FB III is within reach.

you wil lnot get the x5 unless its a natural 19-20...the 17 and 18 will roll for the normal weapon multiplier
