What is the best PVP class+race combo?

I'm looking for an all-around PVP class+race combo. I know that different builds have different strengths depending on who you're fighting so I'm looking for an all-around PVP character. Please let me know what you think are the strongest builds.

Ultimega's got a pretty good toon on Khyber as well ..... I'm not 100% sure of his build but it works pretty well in PvP also

Some variation of a Warforged Sorc seems to be top-notch.

However, such a build is very very gear dependent.

Visty also has a point, how Favored Soul / 2 Monk has begun to emerge as a decent PvP build, but I haven't seen anyone perfect it yet.

The main thing is to be a caster... A ranger with manyshot has a chance, I suppose...

Basically, the obvious is true... Being able to kill from a distance beats the guy who has to get close to you to hit you.

Also, DDO doesn't have PvP :) :) :) :) (Let's derail THIS thead too!!! - just kidding!)

This is true... If your main focus is PvP in this game, you're likely to be very bored most of the time.

The cleric monk is better for the pit. He's got access to the better pvp spells cause he can carry all the lvl 4's that tick away. Plus you can just pour points into con/wis and not have to worry about cha. The only thing you miss out on is better saves and some more hps (and the wings of course :))

The top pvpers have most of the build but from ghallada and khyber the best pvpers are:

For pvp you want to look for a few things. Surviabitly, saves, self heal,high crits, evasion*,for melée you want good dps and a high trip dc.


One reason tukaw is so good is because he has self healing great dps ton of guards great dps evasion



You can have the best toon but if you can't pvp you may suck also the best pvpers have tons of gear on their favorite toons to play tukaw has so much gear it's crazy


You can find tukaw and ultimega's build in the forums :)

Aldo most dps toons use great axes because the range you can hit from afar and also you attack faster and when you twitch with your buffs the dps is amazing

the CTF and TDM arenas to be exactly
in each tavern with a brawling pit is also a guy which sends you to those arenas

There are larger arena's yes.

As for rewards ...... nothing but personal satisfaction and to me thats MORE than enough !!

warforged fighter has best gear tbh and pally overpowerd it is like having a fighter with a little bit of cleric (srsly..) it is better to do 2v2 fighter and cleric combo.

Tukaw build is good, but not undestructable. Sure since U9 where the 16/2/2 build of tukaw doesn't get his tier 3 air savant. I also do not know how the Tukaw build can survive 100% (because if he is undestructable, he must at least win 90% of the battles) versus a 18/2 FvS/monk like mine, just strip any pale with 1 or 2 meteor swarms then crit over 500 with searing light and finish it off with a 100 hit deïfic? If you do not crit: 700 HP isn't easy to beat

Dwarf and warforged seem to be the best classes to me. Dwarfs because they get +5 to saves and extra constitution, and warforged because of the immunities, constitution and selfhealing.

I have been playing pvp for years, and i can tell you, wizard warforged with 2 levels of rogue, will pretty destroy everything. Especially if TR'd to get the other magic missiles. Pure rangers with manyshot will also blow your mind.

I used to have a fun 12 Fvs/8 Ranged (only for pvp lulz), i was destroying everyone :D

id like to see Teth or Made when both were playing and or on Thelanis up against some of the others. It would make for a spectacular event.

As for me personally, i like my 18/1/1 ranger/fighter/monk. Playing a caster is just too easy. I can range of course or melee, depending on the opponent. I certainly dont win all my battles but i like the shock n awe factor Aluecian brings to the table when a caster cannot believe they get pwned by a meager arrow or timing it right for a trip. Earning a little quasi-respect makes for good conversation.

Agreed .... None of my toons are built with the thought of PvP. However one of my AA's chose all favored enemies that are PvP popular and it works well.

Load up on the Trip neg bow + Drow Smoke Goggles + Slayers and a whack of guards and PvP becomes quite "survivable".

Switch the bow out and maybe a favored enemy or 2 and you are good to go in most quests again.

PvP should not be ANYONES first thought in a game not built with PvP in mind.

Wanna PvP ..... go play MW3 !

With epic destinies PVP is a thing of the past 1 hit from certain destinies kills instantly no saving throw. So there is your answer it doesn't really matter at level 25 with 40 epic levels you kill targets easily with any race and any class.

Xzylons a good guy .... He gets a bad rap for sure. There are a group of them that within their preferred characters are quite unstopable in PvP. Every now and then you'll catch one of them on an alt and then at least the fight lasts more than 2 seconds !

The best part about their toons is they are VERY well equipped for questing as well.

PvP might be your 'thing', but DDO is a PvE game with PvP gank pits added later as an afterthought. Since we play a PvE game, making a character for PvP is problematic. By concentrating that character for PvP only, you will have a hard time functioning in the PvE game - making your race to cap all that much harder. We have seen this before, just ask!

You will find it difficult to preform in the PvE game, where 98% of us play. I would hate to see you gimped in PvE game where you must rely on 5 or 11 others to finish all the Quests/Raids for you.

Choose your path carefully and enjoy your journey!

Not sure if this has been mentioned in this thread before; but one of the best PVP builds I've seen in my time on Khyber is a 12 FVS/6 Paladin/2 Monk build. Stalwart Stance, awesome saves, evasion, quickened self heals...

Arcane archer, manyshot, pin, 500 per arrow on 0 defenses, with ghost touch (force imbue)/TS you bypass most defenses. Even suppose you reduce the damage by half, you'll still need over 1k HP to survive it...

Two jerks did that to us one night and claimed that we sucked. Apparently, the notion of how cheap and cowardly it is to camp a spawn with AOEs was lost on them.

Funny for the first couple of deaths, but then you have to shut down your client to get out before timer runs out.
