View Full Version : Is it too much to expect . . .

Before starting Archer's Point (a timed open quest with hobgoblin, ogre, and wolf mobs) I told our party what the mobs were, what the environment was, that the quest was timed, and we picked an inquest guide . . . all outside the quest mind you. The average level of the group was 7, we were running the quest on Elite. The group is 2 melees (barbarian and twf ranger), cleric, sorc, wiz, and a rogue. We start the quest off kill the opening mobs (ogre and some slayers and infiltrators), then our leader just stands there. Someone else takes the helm and directs us towards the right. We stay in a group, and the cleric starts letting the ranger and wizard die. They ask for heals and the cleric doesn't respond. We get past the broken caravan, and then they turn to go back to the shrine at around 7 minutes. I say there's no time to shrine now, running there and back will take 3 minutes each way. So they keep going, we fail the quest (with 2 dead members of course we would), then they start complaining and the cleric says . . .I wasn't ready to heal a party like this. Though he/she had full mana when the wizard and ranger died, and he/she knew what quest it was, what mobs there were, and what type of characters were in the group. Granted, having 3 very squishy characters doesn't help healing in a mainly melee quest, but shouldn't keeping one of the aggro drawers alive be kind of a priority in that situation, or being ready to heal the 40 point crits they hit?
Is it odd for a cleric to say this/not have healing spells ready?

Some rogues are good, some suck.
Some casters are good, some suck.
Some tanks are good, some suck.
Some clerics are good, some suck and you always notice.
That is all.

If its this one, its total, um, that pile behind that bull over there. Each spell level until 9 I believe, I'd have to check, there is a MANDATORY heal spell that the cleric HAS to take. It's not an option. Every "cleric" in the game has the ability to heal, its the person behind the keyboard that doesn't always chose to.

Since clerics have no way of not having healing spells ready ...

Sometimes you just get fail groups. Leave at your earliest opportunity and move on. It's about all you can do, although I understand your need to vent your frustrations here.
maybe the cleric was new to grouping and was having trouble dealing with the interface or was intimidated by the pace of combat and panicked, or was distracted or is a cyborg who was in need of wd40 or something, "not ready" could mean many things. It happens, I wouldnt worry about it. Some players catch on quick, some catch on very slow. Fail is going to happen now and then =D

The obvious answer is ofcourse that the cleric was infact a bot, who had to load of the criterias of the quest befor proceeding. Thus the message "i'm not ready yet" as the loading of the many many different outcomes in a quest can become quite a stress for even advanced bot-programs to handle.
Or maybe he was one of those "panicky clerics" who runs away instead of healing.

They automatically get healing spells on their spell list, and can't remove them. There is no guarentee, however, that they will put them on their hotbar (Or, if they DO put them on their hotbar, that they won't just have one hotbar that they need to cycle through to get to the healing spells).
