true neutral as that is the best aligment if you can get it

you can use tain of evil items without negative, you dont get extra damage from certain spells, attacks and can use stability (though that is not a big point but 3 points always is better then just 2)

But then you can't use weapons of pure good... so there's always a negative for every positive...

but beeing able to use some specific weapons for 10 lvls is alot less usefull then getting lots of less damage for the rest of your life :)

True Neutral is by far the best.

PG weapons are fine for the noob levels. But after your past about level10, no good melee will be caught dead with one.

TN advantages:
Can use best trinket in the game - littany of the dead
Can use best dps armor in the game - marilith chain
Can use a number of other nice items with taint of evil
Your immune to unholy damage.. Which allot of monsters do, mind game and even endgame in the epic quests.
You can use all alignment based weapons without a negative level. This includes axiomatic, anarchic, holy and unholy. Chaotic Good cannot use axiomatic or unholy without neg lvls. This includes a shroud wep with unholy. TN can use every shroud weapon without penalty.
You can use items with stablitity, greater stability and the new superior stability for the best saves in the game.

Reasons PG weapons suck later on:
There a suffix.. .IE of pure good. There are far superior suffixs to go for - namely greater bane, smiting, etc.
Contrary to popular belief, there not needed to get thru DR. At low levels your much better off with a +4 flametouched iron maul then a +2 of puregood, your to-hit score matters more then an xtra d6 on a barb. At endgame, you should be using a mineral2. If you cannot get one, at the very least a holy silver.. Transmuting pg are not great dps weapons for endgame bosses.

I call:..... semi-shenanigans.

you can use stuff crafted in the shroud that have good burst/blast on it.

but that's about it :Þ

it is a pain not being able to use my super twink lvl 6 holy/pg items.. i'll admit (+1 to thrudh for a good point)

+1 to shade as well for some very excellent advice

Neutral good is your best choice since you wont ever have enough umd and you will want to use pure good weapons, yah you could replace those with shroud weapons but that would take a while

aye at level 6 you can pick yourself up a Holy weapon anyways, far superior to PG and doesn't require any aligment stuffs. I suppose sooner if you could find one rr.

I'm almost certain that's not true. Shroud weaponry doesn't have alignment restrictions.

true neutral because if you haven't made one yet you should have a toon high enough to send you holy weapons to get you thru the undead areas. the negative dmg taking for being good alignment at lvl 20 is so insanely huge that being neutral (true, lawful or chaotic) is far better than any combo no matter what reason you have.

Well that's the difference I guess. "almost" certain. I'm 100% certain.

The effect "Unholy" gives a negative level to good aligned characters. This effect is available for shroud crafting - tier 1 neg/material/dominion. It is true no items are restricted from use, but such a weapon does apply a negative level.

Pure Evil burst/blast however do not grant negative levels, so one could skip the unholy portion (but get less dps)

If evil alignment was possible in the game, tier1 pos - Holy, would give a neg level. However you can't be evil in ddo anyways.
