Paladin DPS? Role?

Greetings,

I am sort of new a play (don’t be deceived by my join date; I came and left and returned again).

I love playing DPS characters. My current one if a TWF Scimitar fighter (pure). I have never been much into casters.

I am on PnP players (basic set through 3.0) and I always loved Paladins.

Knowing the commitment it takes to level a character in DDO I have been researching what my next class might be.

What role do Paladins have? Are there DPS builds? In comparison to DPS fighters? Are they desired for parties?

Any help would be appreciated.

yes they are pretty much the same as a fighter when facing undead and evil outsiders(that is every end raidboss we got atm).

fighters excels in fighting trashmobs and is more allround in the DPS department.. Paladins requires more focus when playing and is more interactive but can also self-heal some and throw a scroll/spell or two..

If your new, go for paladins BEST melee-class for a new player to choose. One reason only: free weaponry; Holy swords.

Paladins can play a dps or tank role depending on design; for some dps build samples, check out my build for Aryenne, or Impaqt's ultimate paladin build, both are very heavily focused dps paladins who add a few other (varying) elements.

DPS paladins choose the "Knight of the Chalice" prestige enhancement line, which gives them a lot of extra damage against devils, demons and quori; tank paladins are generally "Defenders of Siberys". Each one is pretty easy to qualify for via enhancements alone (though siberys has some optional feat qualifications that are generally good decisions).
