Still trying to find a true answer to this. I know that getting the 2 levels of monk for feats and evasion. But does a paly with this this build really need a high wisdom? If so, what should the starting WIS be? Here's what I've come across so far.

18 pally/2 monk

15 str
15 dex
12 con
11 int
10 wis
16 cha
all level up points into str

+2 int and dex tome gets you combat expertise and 2wf line.

dont worry about wis, the monk levels are for feats and evasion, not AC.

monk feats can get you your combat expertise and a toughness.

16 cha with +2 tome gets you divine might 3, and hope for divine might 4 with a +4 tome.

wear light armor and still achieve great ac endgame (60ish self wih TWF and can grab a shield if youre overwhelmed by the hate tanking)

And then here's another suggestion from Assio:

The 2 monk levels give
-added "wisdom bonus" to armor class
-2 extra feats
-evasion

The 18 pali levels give
-full palidan smites enhancements
-level 3 palidan KoTC prestige class
-full aura potential
-level 4 spells
----------------------

Starting stats:
----------------------
Str 14 +2 tome +6 item = 22
Dex 16 +2 tome +6 item +2 Elf +4 Stat +2 Exceptional = 32
Con 10 +2 tome + 6 item +2 Exceptional= 20
Int 10 (+3 tome =13 for combat Expertise)
Wis 14 +2 tome +6 item = 22
Cha 16 +2 tome +2 Paladin +6 item +1 Stat +1 Exceptional = 28

Str 22: Useful enough to incite damage
Dex 32: with a base dex of 16, you take +1 tome for itwf/gtwf, Max dex gives great AC
Con 20: good enough to give you 400+HP with endgame gear
Int 10: base gives you the option to eat a +3 int tome later and get combat expertise
Wis 22: Cast level 4 Palidan spells, extra monk ac, extra SP
Cha 28: Increased Smite/loh/saves
----------------------
**Level 4, 8, 12, 16 Stat point into Dex
**Level 20 Stat point into Cha

Which to me, both look fine, but one says WIS is not that important, whereas the other thinks it is. So the question is... Is starting a high WIS important to this build?

That depends on the goal of your build; to boost wisdom will require a significant sacrifice in str or charisma, so if you are a dps build it isnt necessary (my /2 monk paladin is straight dps and has an 8 starting wisdom)

if you are building for some robe-using armor class, then starting with some wisdom is a good idea, but your stat allocation will be far, far more difficult, especially if you aren't a 32 point build

As Junts says it depends. If you are going for lots of dex and wisdom for additional ac bonues that's one thing...you will want int as well for c.e. if you are ac focused. If you just want to beat up on stuff, maybe put some guards or existential stalemate and/or a torc on, and do some self healing between fights then that's another option. Mostly it comes down to your playstyle. Mine isn't that wise.:)

Just for further perspective, here's my 18/2 monk dps build, which goes even lower on wisdom: http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=204161

Personally, I think a 10 wis start on a paladin is always a bad idea; it is either your main dump stat, or you are boosting it for monk armor class .. wasting just 2 build points on some convenience between pal4 and pal8 is not worth it on a class so starved for statistic boosts, and on which +1 charisma can go so very far in dps terms.

I'll offer this counter-point to think about: If you don't care about AC, and thus wisdom, one of the main benefits of the monk splash is lost on you. The other of course being evasion and 2 specific feats. But if you're not starved for feats, consider rogue 2 instead, since it'll open up some nice skills, including full UMD.

I'm re-incarnating my full dps paladin, and there is only one of two ways he'll go: Either pure paladin for maximum possible dps (probably going this route to dust off some weapons I have) or monk 2 with about a 74 or so AC while still having good dps.
