Been playing for a few weeks now and i'm obsessed with tank builds. I have three that I've been messing around with but have yet to come anywhere near close to endgame on any of them.
My latest toon, (which I assume has been done before) is a fighter/pally. I have two main questions; A) is it a good idea to do more than splash 2 pally for saves, B) will the build I am thinking about doing be endgame raid viable, not optimal but viable.
Heres the plan.
Drow, 12ftr/8pally
15str
16dex
12con
12int
8wis
16cha
ill take a universal +1 tome. And Im assuming i will need to find a con tome and possibly a better str one. Every stat would go into str as well.
I realize a pure fighter dorf will have better AC, but it shouldnt be much of a difference right? He will also have more HP and prolly a lil better dps due to dorf axes and more str, but I'm assuming that wont matter too much. A 32 point dorf would be better in all regards for stats and enhancements, but i do not have that access, so with what I've got...
My thoughts on 8 pally instead of 2; better auras, a few more LoH ( which i'm assuming would be a drop in the pond at high levels, but I dunno), even better saves, some pretty trivial spells and a lot more solo survivability (which at this point is huge due to the influx of players who don't seem to know *** they are doing). Looks like I'd lose a point or two of AC from SD III (i'm assuming SD and DoS dex bonuses do not stack), a few feats (i'll just grab a 2hander if i need to dps) and prolly something else im not thinking of. If SD and DoS dex bonuses to armor do stack, that pre would be the obvious pally pre choice (assuming the hate generation clicky actually works). But the other two pre's both look like they would have something to add, ie HotD receives increased healing (but again i do not know how much) and ghostouch. Kotc's perks are obvious.
Feats and enhancements are pretty much a given. Theres a few that I'm iffy about and may change later on, ie force of personality, but im loving the saving throws and the bonus to intim is already a good start.
I'm liking the utility that my dorf pure fighter lacks, but my main concern is, will this toon be able to handle the endgame stuff? I understand how to optimize a character thru feats, stats and enhancements, but i'm kinda oblivious as far as gear goes, so in no way can I present an accurate picture of this chars endgame stats. Any feedback is appreciated.
