Was just wondering if it's possible to implement this metamagic.
It Doubles the area of effect of spells.
Spread, Cloud, Burst and line spells are affected by it, ray spells are not.
Speadspells are ones lilke burning hands, colour spray, acid spray, cone of cold
Cloud spells are acid rain, stinking cloud, grease with durations
Line spells like lightning bolt
Burst spells are instantaneous sphere effects like fireball, otilukes freezing sphere.
For example a widened: Cloud kill would be double the area, and probably double the mana usage.

Are you referring to Enlarge spell? That feat already exists.
Enlarge Spell
Cooldown: 1 seconds
Usage: Active (Toggle)
While this metamagic feat is active, spells have twice the range, but they consume 10 additional spell points.

Enlarge makes the spell happen farther away (if the caster targets it there); widen would make it bigger - bigger firewalls, bigger cloudkills....hm, sleep and slow might actually be worth casting once in a while if they included more than one monster in their area...

Sleep and deep slumber suffer the same problem in DDO that daze monster, cause fear etc have. They're HD limited in a game where HD goes way beyond normal.
And especially on hard and elite, the creatures HD go way up. The amount of hd you affect should be somehow linked to the caster level.
Level 1 sleep is 4 HD worth
Level 3 Deep slumber is 10 hd worth.
Maybe the HD worth value should be (caster level +3) in sleep's case and 2x caster level in deep slumber's case.

As for widen, yeah i'd like to see globe of invulnerability big enough to encase people fighting :) the benefits of it would be enormous.
I'm thinking widen would be 20 spell point tariff to the spell.
Or alternatively just double the spellpoint cost for double the area.

/not signed.
I like the idea for the visual but for a game like DDO where spells have inbuilt IFF, it would be way overpowered.
