Ok for 2 years now I ran Anonymous on all my toons, because I hate blind group invites.... I do not care that others in my party see my name, I don't care that prospective party leaders see my name. I'm running a cleric, and I get tired of group invites, even when I'm in a group, so I have to go Anon., but then have to switch to non-anon. if I want to group... it is getting to be a real pain, and is getting to the point that I don't like to play this toon at all, over something that should be a non-issue.

/squelch add FTW.
Who wants to run with people that throw blind invites anyway...

There is a cap on the number of ID's one can squelch....:)

I've just started putting PST if Anon in all my LFM's. At least most people are reminded that they are anon and turn it off for the lfm or at least actually send a tell if they want to stay anon.
The problem with Squeltching every person that sends a blind invite is that your list will fill up fast on a cleric and a lot of people just dont know how rude it is right now to do that.
I'm not one to squeltch someone just for blind inviting me.
I generally do stay Anon on all my clerics....
Not sure why this had to change. The old mechanic seemed to work well and dont recall seeing any complaints.

Not sure what server you are on - but I don't keep any of my clerics or my FvS anonymous - and past about lvl 8 have never had issues with blind invites.
At low level, I could see there being too many blind invites to use squelch.
At high level? On Ghallanda it just doesn't happen. Easily rare enough to just squelch.
I even set up cool AFK messages like "If I wanted to join your group I would have hit the LFM" but they very rarely get any use lol.

Agreed. Or an anon-lite where people don't see you in the who list but your name displays when you try to join a group and your name shows in the LFM group if you already joined.
I liked anon on my healer because of the blind invites and the /tell invites. Many groups say no anon so I either have to toggle back and forth or just leave it off and deal with the invites.

Its not so much the blind invites as the constant /Tells.

These dont really happen on Ghallanda either; my bard has always got more such tells per time played than my cleric, and my bard doesnt get more than one a day.

I'm in favor of this kind of change.
Applying to join a group should not show you as anon.

You can also disable invites in Options - UI. This would be problematic if you often get invites from guildies/friends/whoever, but if you mainly just click join on LFMs, you can go non-anon, and not receive any blind join requests.

I think that you will find that if you play non anon for a couple weeks, all the blind tells and invites stop--because people get to know you-- That you always say no--(edited to add that)
I play 4 Clerics, 2 of which are capped and I never get blind invites, and once in awhile get a tell from people I don't know, which I don't mind since sometimes I am just spending money on the AH and daydreaming and wouldn't mind joining a pug. I play alot too, prob 3 hours every night--people will get to know you and whether you accept groups by tells.
Since I lead many raids, I stay non anon because I do like to get tells from people asking if we are running anything as I can't always remember everyone's alts.

This matches what I have observed.

If people stop sending you tells to join their groups after they get to know you.....
is that really a good thing?

LoL-- People I run with now and then still send me tells which is why I stay non anon, but people I consistently declined stopped sending me tells. All I say is No TY GL--how hard is that? People get to know the clerics who always say no--or the Bards or whatever other class may be in demand for something.

For me it was not blind invites as much as constant tells from people I do not know asking if I can run..... whatever it is they need a cleric for... just gets annoying when you are in the middle of something else.

Problem here is I also dual box for slayers... again, more work, having to switch back and forth... ok, not really all that much more, but more than it was before the change, and I see zero benefit from the new system... before, You go Anon., your name comes off the list- that was all... now....

not a real problem when I'm running in the streets, but very annoying when I'm in a quest or explorer.

I can count on one hand the times Ive gotten a random tell from someone Ive never grouped with b4 while in a quest or raid asking me to do something else. Usually people will send me tells trying to set up a raid for later--and I don't mind this at all--I also send tells out so I can run raids back to back, all be it only to people I know. Now maybe because I lead a lot of raids, people don't send me tells asking me to join them because they know Im probably already prob going to lead my own. . .Or Maybe Sarlona is just a different kind of server than others.
I do not join LFMS with Anons in them though--last Anon Cleric I played with simply left a trouble free shroud after part 4 without a word. Sure we survive, but that was a jerk thing to do. I don't know many well like Melees who play Anon either.

That's actually kind of funny. I've actually resorted to using /who and sending whispers to folks when trying to fill a party at odd hours or when in need of a specific role. Of course, I mostly play healers ... though my stable of characters includes tons of variety ... seems my three clerics and one favored soul get the most play by far.
Its not so much the blind invites as the constant /Tells.
That's because you are just so amazing Impaqt. Everyone wants a piece of you.

What if they mail you death threats against ever partying with them again?

well, due to the lfm system you never really need an invite, you can always use the lfm or send an invite...
just disable party invites in the user interface options...it is there I think.
One of the best ways is to put in your 'guild' name and 'LFG' that you are not a healer and will never heal anyone....that usually gets the cleric blind invites to go away quickly.

Blind invites and tells all the time (not just to group, 20 to 30 plat selling tells a day) was on the reasons I ran anon. I also played 95% of the time with my guild and didn't run my cleric with pugs that often mostly just with people I knew. I left for little over a year for a brake, while I have gotten a few blind invites and one or two tells on my FVS while leveling it doesn't seem as bad as it use too.
