Any news on new PrE classes? Should we look forward to more announcements for the update after update 1, or is there still a chance these will make it in Update 1?
With reincarnations on the horizon it would be nice to know a bit more in store for us before every cleric reincarnates to favored soul :)

I know I have been gone since February...but when where prestige classes added? I know there have been enhancements that add abilities similar to prestige classes, but are not prestige classes in themselves.. is that what you are talking about?

The enhancements are the prestige classes in DDO. It's how the devs decided to implement them, rather then force multiclassing as per PnP rule sets.

Yes instead you are forced to pure class or left out in the cold as far as PrEs are concerned. Sadly they also made it so that the bonuses from certain PrEs are so substantial that not having them "gimps" a character.
I still hate how you are required to remain a single class to get to the upper PrE levels.

This is not accurate, as each PrE has 3 levels. Now the most powerful of three is attained at lvl 18, so if you want to take full advantage of them then you MC will be limited to 2 levels of other classes, but nothing prevents anyone from creating a 12 fighter 6 ranger tempest kensai etc.

And sadly your a minority Aesop, imagine how mad people would've been if they WERE seperate classes? Many people would have had to reroll if that were the case in order to take full advantage of the PrE's when they came out.

This could be a good way to tie in the past life feats. Perhaps they could work some way of letting you take another classes prestige enhancements if you have their past life feat.

that's called splashing when you take 2 levels of a class last I heard.
and limiting the development of characters is still **** that I'd expect in non DnD based games not here... I said as much when this idea was first put out there.

Yep and that was also something discussed when they stated in beta that PrCs weren't going to be ready right off the bat. Most people weren't too upset with having to rebuild a character through level 10 (level cap at that point). Most were looking forward to the build diversity that PrCs could have helped accomplished not the silly paths that we ended up with.
The second incarnation of the Enhancement system while dramatically better than the original still leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth. Its an example of the developers telling you how to play your character. Give me the more open options that the base system has any day.

I like the PrE system in DDO and find it actually more allowing of customization than the PnP prestige classes. In PnP, the rules state (if I recall correctly) you can have a single prestige class. In contrast. you will have the potential to have 3 class based PrEs and possibly even a race based PrE (if only at the first tier) if you so choose (and can arrange for the prereqs).

nope there is no such rule in PnP... There may be an option to do so but its not a rule. You still must meet prerequisites but none of said prerequisites are class level x
Additionally almost no PrEs are geared solely towards a single class... in fact I'm having a hard time thinking of a single one.

Dragon Disciple?
Achmage while difficult can be gotten by a sorceror
Arcane Trickster while you need certain skills says nothing about having to be a Rogue
Dragon Disciple can be gotten by a bard or a warmage or other non prep casters
not sure about red wizard I'd actually have to read it again...

Arcane trickster, how do you get disable ranks without being at least rogue 1?
ARCHMAGE-You really going to sit there and tell me this is for a sorc?
Hit Die: d4.
Requirements
To qualify to become an archmage, a character must fulfill all the following criteria.
Skills: Knowledge (arcana) 15 ranks, Spellcraft 15 ranks.
Feats: Skill Focus (Spellcraft), Spell Focus in two schools of magic.
Spells: Ability to cast 7th-level arcane spells, knowledge of 5th-level or higher spells from at least five schools.
Class Skills
The archmage's class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Concentration (Con), Craft (alchemy) (Int), Knowledge (all skills taken individually) (Int), Profession (Wis), Search (Int), and Spellcraft (Int).
Skill Points at Each Level: 2 + Int modifier.

1. Disable Device is not exclusive to rogues. You are mistaking Skills with Trapfinding... if you insist on trap finding then make it Artificer
2. 5 ranger/5 Assassin/10 Arcane Trickster... if you so wish to be sure its a Class Skill
14th level Sorcerer qualifies just fine for archmage... of scourse there are better ways to do it but then again nothing in those Prerequisites says "Must be a Wizard to qualify"

IIRC, Red Wizard Requires you to be a Specialist Wizard (Necromancer, Conjurer, Transmutationer, Illiusionist, Diviner, Abjurer, Enchanter, or Evoker) and Human.
