I'm wondering what the definitive judgment was on Drow stat points and True Reincarnation.

SimVerg asked the question:

How will True Reincarnate affect Drow? Will they gain 2 points becoming 30 point builds, 4 becoming 32 point builds or 6 becoming 34 point builds?

To which Tarrant responded:

Looking into this for you.

My own preference in character creation over the past couple years has favored Drow over 32-point builds, but my main of late, Nellas (18 Ranger/2 Paladin) pulled a +4 Strength Tome yesterday and I'm wondering if I should go ahead and eat it.

drow become 30 and then 32 point builds with their TRs, and i'd personally save the tome and use it after you TR as it's inevitable that you will at some point in time :P

I appreciate the clarification. It's not what I'd hoped, but I guess it's what I expected.

Drow are currently 28 pt builds with 2 extra positive racial adjustments to ability scores. Saying that they are 32 pt builds and they will get +2 +2 is somewhat misleading IMO, They will become 30 and 32 point builds upon true reincarnation and maintain their racial adjustments as hokonoso implied to begin with.

Which means that Drow will remain a good choice for certain builds (Dex, Int, Cha) and not a good choice for others. Drow was always a 28-build that was, if your build would have used those points in Dex/Int/Cha, the equivalent of a 32 point build.

This is a tougher question that it might initially appear. On the one hand drow do receive a net +4 to their stats, which is the justification Turbine uses to count them as 32-point builds. Yet warforged are treated as 28-point builds despite a net -2 to their stats, and several races that have stat-increase-like features (like humans) are also treated as being 28-point builds despite those features.

The point here isn't to say the system is "broken". Obviously warforged have a lot of non-stat advantages to offset their net -2, for example. But the very fact that non-stat features are used to justify 28-point status for the warforged says that one has to look beyond the drow's net +4 to decide whether they ought to be treated as 32-point builds.
