Just pointing out an interesting and attractive magic weapon property from the D&D 3.5 books. Kensei fighters would especially like it now that Transmuting has been nerfed. Based on parts of speech, it would tend to be a suffix:

Aptitude, +1 bonus cost
Any feats or abilities granting a bonus to a selectable weapon type apply to this weapon, regardless of its actual type. For example, the bonuses from Improved Critical Slashing and Kensei Rapier Master apply to a Warhammer of Aptitude. (This effect does not allow the same bonus to apply twice). In addition, if you have a Weapon Focus or Improved Crit feat matching the actual type of the weapon you gain another +1 attack and damage.

Notes:
1. There were flaws in the original D&D version of that property in Tome of Battle, because it could apply even when the weapon type was never a valid choice for the ability.
2. I would not allow this property to apply to racial weapon bonuses, as the character never had a choice to train it for this other weapon. The bonus would only apply if the Aptitude weapon could have been a valid option when the ability was taken.
