Ok guys, enough is enough. I woke up this morning and logged in my level eight pali to do a few low level quest before I headed off to work, but this was ridiculous. There was three lfm's up that was supposibly within my level range. The first was a stk-normal run that did announce non-f2p that was asking for levels 8 - 12. Now guys, don't you think that is abit much, the quest are around level four. Not to mention the xp would be nonexistant with a level twelve in the party. Did include a lv eleven toon. The second quest up was a waterworks-hard for levels 7 - 11 also marked not f2p. The third group that was within my level range was for tangleroot-normal for levels 8 - 11. Now guys, I know some of you are rather new but please do not destroy the xp in these quest like this. These are actually very good quest series to run within the appropriate level range for rather quick leveling. I know that people are free to put up their own lfm's and I could have made up my own lfm, but I just decided to do a few slayer runs in sorrowdusk. I just decided I'd rather play alone for abit after seeing this. It truly amazes me how many of these type of lfm's actually go up and fill though.....

I'm thinking the main reason why they put up lfg's for these quests was because they were doing it for favor runs, not XP. Unless the people hosting the lfg's are total idiots, they most likely do it because they want to do it up to elite, and they cannot solo the quest on elite. Or, for certain rare items that are dropped on the quest. I know that in STK, there's a rare item called a 'ring of feathers' which sells for 100k and always gives the user the ability to feather-fall...

If it was for favor, there would not have been a level cap on the quest, and if you farm for ring of feathers, you would normally put that in the lfm. Neither of wich was posted in the lfm.

Ive found that the froobs dont care about xp nearly as much as they do about favor. This is apparently the real reason for so many ill fated attempts on elite lately.
Ya, you know youve been in those groups. As the group fills some froob who needs that extra 4 favor for 100 more tp suggests elite because his last group managed to squeak by on hard. Despite being low for elite, under-equiped, under-prepared and running with at least 1 or more players who have never done it on normal ... the elite run begins ... and ends.
I think alot of players have reached 7+ on free content, then buy the packs for STK, Tangleroot, etc and go back there to farm favor.

This actually might help explain why I had a difficult time this morning filling a 7-10 Co6 Elite group. All those lvl 14s looking to join sawthat the lfm was out of thier lvl range. :)

Actually on elite, a lvl12 would get full XP from STK. -50% penalty, and +50% for elite firstime.
The penalties for being over the quests lvl were greatly reduced in mod9.
Works something like this - not 100% accurate but somewhat close:
Quest lvl5, 7 on elite
Lvl8 in group = No penalty
lvl9 -10%
lvl10 - 15%
lvl11 -25%
lvl12 - 50%
lvl13 - 75%
lvl14 - 99%
lvl15 - no XP awarded
So far as destroying the xp goes.. There not, there just playing it smart .Doing quests below your lvl very quickly is often allot more xp then doing ones at or above your level very slow.

I think it's really sad people must post reasons or explanations for running a quest.
Some people actually play this game for the fun of it. What they get at the end is just a bonus. Everytime you post an lfm for doesn't need some specific goal in mind. You can post whatever you want.

If I remember correctly after mod 9 change.
2 lv's above quest lv is 10% xp penalty
3 lv's is 25%
4 lv's is 50%
5 lv's is 75%
6 lv's is 100%
So the stk on normal is what level 4 or 5?

They probably didn't modify the LFM. A lvl 10 leader would automatically generate a LFM 8-12 if he doesn't manually change the level range.

I agree. some people just like killing stuff and exploring every nook and cranny. I personally wouldnt join for thoe quests at those levels, but its no big stress if others join them.

Yup. This is probably the answer to the OP's query. It's auto-generated when you put up the LFM, and many people don't bother changing it.

Stk is lvl 3, 4 and 5. A 12 on elite would get very little xp for the whole series....

Unless it's the first time he's run it at that difficulty, in which case you get none of the "Base" XP, but all of the "first time completion" value, modified by whatever bonuses you pick up. So they could get a few thousand for the whole thing, plus favor.
However, "very little" is relative and a few thousand at 12 doesn't go so far...

i thnk the mostreasonable explanation has been posited:
they are gridning favor, not xp, because those are 28 pt trash toons they are using to vault to better options (WF, Monk, FvS, 32pt, Drow, etc.)
THey are hoping higher level toons who need favor will power-favor them through quests (not to be confused with powerleveling).
Makes perfect sense for FtP.

What he said, and you have a better chance to keep both +10% bonuses.

wait... an actual honest to god LFM in the social panel and not spamming general chat every 30 seconds with 2 lines of text about the classes and levels they wanted (and how it was your last chance to join)... and you are complaining?
I am so confused. :)

I am a veteran player leveling a new toon. I can honestly say that it's simply a different mindset.
For example: I solo'd STK on my level 3 rogue. Easy enough, no probs, no deaths etc..
I managed to get in a group doing it right after i finished solo'ing it, that everyone refused to go until we found a healer. I understand dungeon scaling, etc...but we were going back in on NORMAL. I've been in several parties where the attitude was, no healer, no go. Also many parties where I was a 2 or 3 and level 7+ was accepted into the group. I simply dropped group politely and moved on. There ARE lots of folks running quests under their range. It's the new thing. I don't like it either, i don't agree, but i do understand the need to get the favor fast to get their points even faster.
I simply choose to either suck it up and run anyway if i'm bored, or run only guild runs most other times. Several of us in guild have rolled new toons since slots are now available, and find levelling alot more to OUR liking by running together, sinc eour playstyles are indeed similar.
Get used to it folks, it's not going away.............
move along, nothing else to see here. :D

It may also be an issue of the group leader not paying attention to whom he/she invites.
Quick example = Threnal series on Cannith this past weekend.
All of us were lvl 9-10ish and the invite was put up for that level range, but it wasn't until I checked our Xp page that I noticed we were getting reduced xp for having a level 13 in the party. Checked our group info and sure enough, the leader had let a 13 paladin join us. I'm sure most of the group had no idea, and I only happened to notice by accident. Maybe the leader didn't even notice and simply took the first blind tell he/she got in order to fill the group. Who knows.
STK for XP at level 11+, however, is a bit silly. I'd be hesitant to join that group were I in the proper level range.
Personally, though, I feel that if the group window were more intuitive or customizable, we could instantly see everyone's levels and such and have a much better/clearer indication of what we had in group.
Not sure why we can't tailor it to show people's level splits underneath their name. Would help immensely.
