So I'm one of those unfortunates that can not buy points at the store. Keep getting that error saying my card is declined, no matter which card I use.
At the time I thought something humourous along the lines of "never has it been so hard to spend money" or "how much do I have to twist their arm?".
But, in reality, Turbine has charged me $1 each time I've tried. Teaches me to try to buy from the DDO store anymore. I'm HOPING that this is some goofy "test" charge, to ensure that the card is real, but then, if it can charge $1, why can't it charge me the $6.25 and give me the **** points?
And when are you bastards going to give me back my 5 $1 charges that you have charged? And why is it $1 instead of something tiny, like 25 cents (what Paypal does, if I remember right). Not that it's a big deal, but it does add up.
Guess I should just stop trying to give you my money?
Edit: What's worse is that I just quit WoW and tried this, am having a lot of fun playing it, but GOD does only 2 characters suck.

When I called my card company, they said those $1 charges are 'pre-approved' for merchants to test the validity of the card.
Apparently they will expire in a few weeks and you won't be charged, or the merchant might use those to offset the charge of the 'real' transaction once it goes through.... BUT they do count against your credit balance until they clear.
The card company said that to cancel those $1 charges before they expire, Turbine would have to fax them confirmation that it is ok to clear those charges.
I just used a different card and that one worked. It does sometimes seem like paying Turbine is more difficult than it ought to be, especially since they are focusing on micropayments as a business model.

So I've emailed DDO a support ticket about a week ago and haven't heard back...
You all just do not want my money.

Call the support number---it has some odd times...but the people there will at least be able to buy the points for you with your card....thats what we had to do during Beta...I called them, told them the card was being declined, despite knowing it was good, and they ran it from their end and it went through fine and I got my points.
Funny thing though, after they did that, Ive been able to buy points normally once the servers went live....they thought the problem was that my IP address was coming from too far away from where the billing address was listed (I'm out of town alot) triggering a fraud detector...but the problem is now gone...maybe they just overrode that trigger for me when I explained that I'm often out of town when I play..who knows
Try them though---they should at least be able to get you your points:)
