Just ran the Cursed Crypt for the first time with my static play group the other night. For those who haven't been inside, it's a pretty straight forward dungeon crawl initially that leads to a tower climb and confrontations with the projected images of a vampire and his enslaved Silver Flame coterie. Some nice fights mixed with soft targets you're trying to protect. Best of all, its on a 60 min. timer, curbing some of the worst time wasting proclivities of my teammates! We finished with less than 2 min. to go. I loved this quest.

I've always liked that quest .. just not the flagging quests :)

I was in a group of level 11s that tried to 4 man it last night, with a Paladin, Fighter, Monk, and a Bard, we did fine all the way to the last fight, and then wiped. Couldn't do enough DPS to take him down. It's pretty tough with no casters and no silver or transmuting to bypass his DR.

It's a fun quest. It can be run together or split up. It can drop crazy good loot.

Once you get the quest down, and if you split up--it can be completed in 15 min or less. A great loot run.

Just duoed that one with a ranger & a wizard - it was tough getting to the end fight with enough time to spare to try to keep the silver flamers alive. After 2 failed attempts we gave up and dropped firewalls all over the place. Of course, by that time, we had built up plenty of hate for the silver flamers, so we didn't so much mind that a couple of them got incinerated ;)

Tell your wizard to get Flesh-to-stone... turn the silver flame into statues, and fight the vampire away from them...

Yeah, we did that, but killing the vampire took too long, and there was too much other junk in the room. In the end, it was just time for some good old fashioned firewalling. As for "fight the vampire away from them" ... if you have any suggestions as to how to keep the vampire from running all over the room and using them as meatshields while they're stoned, I'm all ears ;)

Definitely one of my favorite quests in the game. Such a pity that when it was released it was below the level cap - it would be much more popular if it was at cap when launched.

Really, really, really annoy the Vampire, by spamming him with Searing Light, Heal, Scorching Ray or Disintegrate.

These spells deal enormous amounts of damage and generate a lot of aggro.

This quest was a lot of fun to learn to solo.

Hmm...I had assumed that one of us must have had aggro, yet he kept hopping all over the room anyway. Does he start out not "aggroed" onto whoever starts the fight, and have to be damaged into paying attention to them (and standing still to fight)? Or does he become "unaggroed" every time he dissolves into bats/wolves/whatever? If I hadn't had to chase him all over the room, he definitely would have gone down faster...

I think he aggro wipes when he dissolves into bats or wolves.

Fire some ranged attack at him and let him come to you.
