View Full Version : Is this a viable spell combination?

I hit level seven earlier and got a bunch of new spells and I'm thinking about what different tactics to try rather than just the capture and release method. My main concern about different tactics is that because of our very limited mana pool, whatever I do has to be hyper efficient. Ideally what I do puts the least amount of stress on the healers and allows the DPS'ers to do their thing.

I haven't used it yet but I was thinking about either AOE snares or single target slows and firewall. So my first question is does something like a ice storm effect work with firewall or does the firewall negate the ice? I haven't looked at my entire level IV spell lineup yet but I think I saw a slow spell but it was single target? If it is single target than that is going to be too consumptive for dealing with large pack scenarios and cause me to fall back on charms instead of this combination I'm thinking about.

Or if you have an altogether different tactical method for this level range, I'd be interested in hearing it. I'm not concerned about solo because I have all the time in the world to learn what works there for me with new spells. I'm concerned about tactics that are solid winners while in a group.

* Solid fog + firewall is a nice spell-lvl-4 combo.
* I'm not sure, but I think Ice Storm will extinguish your firewall.
* I believe Slow is an AOE spell.

Yes Ice Storm or what ever its called put out Firewall. Learned that the hard way. Also Sleet Storm i think its called, will also hit your own party and not just the mob, which will **** your group off as well.

Third Level Spells:

Haste Plus Slow.....Not alot of people use the slow spell but I love using it when I am level 7 and 8 going after ogres in sorrowdusk solo or in Grey Moon series.

Hypnotism + Dance....I won't go near ogres and trolls solo without these two spells running. I also use this with Earth Elly's and Fire Elly's.

Fire Wall plus Solid Fog or Fire Wall plus a +2 Adamantine Tower shield to turtle up and take it.

Charm Monster + Slow + Firewall....This will get the mobs on the charmed mob, cast slow to affect the most mobs and then run around your Firewall...

Curse + PK

Curse + Hold Person on Orange Names

You can do Sleet Storm + Firewall, but make sure the people fighting in the sleet storm have freedom of movement or else they'll complain.
Or better yet, just do extended web + cloud kill. i.e. other damage spells that does not clear away web.
