I have a soft spot for both classes( Monk/Rogue), is there a good way to combine them?

28 points, basic gear, solo and group/raid worthy?

Handwraps/Quarterstaff, or even dual weilding are all fine options.

I would prefer to avoid warforged and dwarfs, any other race is fine even if halflings run funny.

edit: hmm, put a little bit of thought into this and realised I'm trying to add another main stat to another statpoint starved class. would likely work much better as a 32 point build...

13 rogue / 6 ranger / 1 monk is popular. 10 percent attack speed boost from tempest 1 will make up for lost sneak attacks, and you get favored enemies.

I've had a ton of fun with Vandt -- see link in signature.

He's a Rogue who plays like an Intimimonk. Quite a versatile build, and capable of tanking in large portions of the game.

May not be what you're looking for, but it's at least a fairly unique way to combine Rogue and Monk.

That looks pretty neat actually.

Rog/Monk is my favorite, I think of it as the Yakusa build.

I suggest

STR max out with all your points, levelups, tomes
DEX 17 base dex (that's including tome) to get GTWF
CON start at 14 or 16
INT minimal 10 or 12 is ok if you have gear
WIS start at 14
CHA minimal unless you also splash Pal, 6 is ok, eventually your UMD will get there anyway

Feats
Toughness (monk feat 1)
PA (regular or monk feat 2 if you take 2 monk)
TWF
ITWF
GTWF
IC
Sap
Stunning Blow (use Stunning Blow when you wield a 5% weighted weapon, sap when you aren't)
khopesh

Don't forget to use earth+earth+earth on enemy casters.

Though I must ask, why not warforged? Does any race look tougher?

I agree that it sounds great, and even a match made in heaven. The game mechanics make that difficult to pull off though.

A friend has one up to 2 rogue/5 monk at the moment. I believe he is planning a 4/16ish build. I started one prior to his, but not so happy with the results. Enjoying Rogue/Ranger much better. My monk had no concentration, so severely limited my moves, oops.

My 2 cents from my limited expereince, is:

#1 wait for 32 pt build, Thats my own plan.

#2 go for stats similar to 10str/16 dex/14 con/14 int/14 wis/8 chr. A halfling can pull those numbers off with 28 pts. Then use weapon finese. Issue may/will come with higher elemental form ranks, where greater than 14 is required.

#3 by waiting until you have 32 pt build, you will also have more cash to pump into your monk for tomes and gear.

Again, this is just theory I have been putting together.

EDIT: I see Djeserit just posted from experience vs my theory, so not sure if #1 and #3 are valid concerns.

Warforged are ugly, really ugly =p

Dwarfs look to much like my family, just shorter
