View Full Version : Ranger splashed Warchanter/Arcane Archer

I've searched the forum but can't find anything along this line. I didn't make the build go out to all 20 levels, just enough to put in the "proof of concept" more than anything. The idea behind this is to have a TWF Scimitar-wielding Elven Warchanter that can also be "ok" at range, if necessary. This is what I've got so far, and I'm looking for reasons why splashing ranger might not be so great, but fighter might be better, or barbarian, or whatever.

FWIW, I'm an extreme newb, so I don't know what gear I'll eventually be looking at getting -- this is really more or less a concept for the character and I hope the I'll be able to gear it decently eventually.

I've actually started the character and am level 3 dual-wielding the scimitars now, plus have a +2 chain shirt. All my other gear is Korthos Island stuff.

Would different spells be better? What additional feats would I need beyond the TWF ones? Will I have space to fit other casting feats in or am I going to be more or less a melee bard?

I know I won't be able to fit in precise and improved precise shot, nor manyshot, so it's not like this is really going to be a full on Arcane Archer, but the 20 extra spell points don't hurt, nor does the ability to conjure arrows, imo, so I decided to grab the enhancement anyway.
