Hello
I've been searching the forums trying to get a sense of the communities opinion of Whirlwind. I was going to build a character with it in mind (considerable prereqs) and am trying to verify its effectiveness.
I was hoping that with a high intimidate it would be handy for cutting down large groups of trash.
I'm curious what the current opinion is. The majority of the posts I've read trash it in favour of Cleave/Great Cleave. Is it really a waste of feats due to it's steep requirments and if so any word from Turbine if it will ever be "looked at" by the devs?
Cheers
It is pretty meh. Most click to activate combat feats generally are not worth it with a few notable exceptions such as Stunning Blow on a fighter with feats to blow.

The Whirlwind feat has no effectiveness.
1. Active melee AOEs are hardly ever valuable.
2. Cleave is an active melee AOE with fewer prerequisites.
3. Cleave is an active melee AOE that's about 5 times faster.

There's no indication they're looking at it, and honestly it should be very low in priority compared to spells, bows, shields, and fists.
There are certainly many things that should be fixed for many active attack abilities, including AOEs, DOTs, and debuffs.

While Whirlwind has a good effect, it's on a 15 second cooldown, rendering it not worth the feats.
It is, however, a fun feat with a Vorpal weapon. Just not strong enough to be worth taking.

I enjoy my whirlwind... mass-bluff + whirlwind in center.
They need to fix the animation though. They jacked it up with mod 8.
PS: It's really one feat extra feat if you're going mobility fighter -- it allows you to be running full-steam instead of backpeddling and triggering the attack. A harrier or kiter would be the ideal user for this feat. It's not dps -- it's survival on the run (not effective vs regenerating, ie use trip or something & whack'm)

Looks cool.
Cool down is way too long.
Not worth the prereqs.
Glad i took it.
Probably wont take it again.
Looks cool when combined with switching to greater air stance. :)

Thanks for all the input folks.
Still undecided, I suspect I may try it for myself.
Cheers
