OK. I have downloaded all 3 versions of the game and I have only found 1 download link that works and that is the High Res version. furthermore, after downloading and installing many many many many times over the past 3 days, I STILL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! get a very high fragmentation on my hard drive that cannot be removed.

before all yall guru's start telling me what to do, I have already tried everything from disk cleanup, disk defrag, cleaned my registry, compressed and uncompressed both me reg and HD, and yet the problem still persists.

Also, why is it that the only download link that works is the HiRes.

Can someone please explain. if I cannot get the issue of high fragments resolved, then I'm afraid I will have to permenantly remove DDO from my comp.

sincerely,

a confused and irritated gamer

nothing that is free should be this much of a pain in the _ _ _

Have you tried customer service?

theres another bug

When I try to make a request on the CS page, I cannot log in becuase I do not have a credit card on file. Nor will I ever put one on file unless some direction can be given to atleast try and resolve these issues. I understand that the game is free to play, But nontheless, once a victim of CC fruad over the net, never again, so I now use a greendot card.

I have tried looking at the FAQ's about this game and no help there either.

How big is the hard drive? is Fragmentation a real issue? the only thing i worry about is having the virtual memory file @ the beginning of the drive set in stone, not controlled by windows... all those things you did have nothing to do with defragging a drive correctly... windows programs for system are door stops, go over to download.com and get something for free that is specifically made to defrag propper.... i know in the day Symantec was king, but i'm sure theres freeware/open source thats 999999999x better than anything Microflop can make... oh and if your running Vista, DONT!

The problem is probably not related to DDO. How full is your hard drive?
Windows XP will not defragment a drive when it is over 85% full.
Also defrag won't defrag files in the recycle bin, so be sure to empty that first.

You can try a third party defrag tool, some of them can defrag single files.
