You will have to pay for a different mmo thats any good anyhow, So whats the point?

Wait for Diablo 3 if you dont want to spend a Dime paying monthly, 1 $50 game online for life.

It's worth it for me because

a) doing dungeons is fun and I enjoy it whether I'm level 2 or level 20.

b) I love trying out new alts so I'll be able to just hop onto another character if my main gets stuck in the teens.

Having said that I probably will spend at least the $6.99 to get 400 TP and a Premium account for 4 slots per server and AH Mail and Forum access.

I may well spend more at high level if there seem to be cool stuff I can't do because I don't own but unless you are VIP or unless you buy all adventure packs there's always likely to be some content you're excluded from. It's the nature of their pay-for-content marketing structure.

That's up to you to decide. You're going to do some grinding, anyway. Got to level 9 or 10 by running every quest only once on each difficulty level. Might've been able to squeak out a little more, since I didn't get most of the quests at the beginning in Elite mode (meant to come back for them but didn't get around to it). Now i'm at level 12, and there's only about 5 quests that I can reach that aren't ridiculously low level for me.

If you're not allowed to spend money online, are you allowed to play online MMO type games?

"worth" is all relative. For me no its not, I have been playing to long to enjoy the content you get for free and blow through it in a few hours. You on the other hand may enjoy learning the nuances of the game that are second nature to me. You may enjoy doing X quest on norm/hard/elite because you have never done it.

If you want to get the most bang for your time, do not spend any of your turbine points on anything but content. Dont buy class/race/items/healing etc at all. Drop everthing into content, and wait till its on sale.

Ultimately I guess its worth it as you aint payin squat. So like free advice is always worth the price, free gaming prolly is as well :D

Another thing to consider might be a game card. Not sure if you can find one physically or order one on the phone or something, but then you could spend that money. Or maybe a prepaid CC. Save your cash and pick up a pre-paid CC and buy points that way.

You can potentially get to level 15 on the free content, then buy the (cheap) Reaver's Reach adventure pack with the favor TP, that will take you to 20 with a lot of repetition.

I cannot find the post, but I can say that it is MOSTLY true. You can get into the high teen level simply doing explorer/rares/slayer in the Explorer areas. While the grind can be mind numbing, you can offset it through running the quests n/h, do the explorer area for a few hundred kills, E.

I have recently capped two toons (from level 16 up to 20) since launch, and I am working on a third/fourth simply going back and completing explorer areas (the xp for the new devil area is horrible).

The two questions you asked are kinda pointless. Going to another MMO, you will eaither have to pay money if its a pay to play MMO, or grind like MAD if its a free mmo...or hit the item mall/subscribe if you dont want to grind that MMO like mad.

honestly if you want to stick around for any length of time you will most enjoy the game if you spend a few bucks. You get get your level sigils from chests or favor based TPs, but count on spending real cash for at least some content. For me that would be Delaras or Therenal, Gianthold, and The Vale as a minimum buy. Over time, you might want to expand out over time as you find you want new challenges.

My guess is if you actually grind your way to 20 you won't be having much fun by the end of it. I think this game will stay fun for free until about level 12, then if you still want to advance your characters I'd spend $20-30 and unlock high level questing content (Gianthold, Vale and Shavarath in particular). If that kind of expense isn't what you want to do, I'd roll up new characters and re-experience the lower content, maybe run quests you didn't the first time around, that kind of thing.

The thing is, it's not a matter of "either you can level to 20 without grinding/paying or it's not worth playing at all". If you have fun playing to 5, or 7, or 10, do that. Then if it starts feeling too grindy, stop. You can always come back later if you want to try another character class (which will earn you more points along the way), or feel like buying an adventure pack or 2. Not being able to get to 20 for free without grinding is not the same thing as not being worht spending some time, as long as youre having fun.

We should have a thread in f2p with the names of those who managed to get to 20 in f2p, would make an interesting challenge to vets, only use favor gotten TP and such.
But still, I would advise you to at least get at least one adventure pack using TP. Still, $30 for TP content that is FUN and ENJOYABLE is quite a steal just grinding for months.
Also as a side note, have any of you other f2p guys gotten a gold or plat leveling sigil?

You can actually do that here too. $50 will buy you all the content you need to get to 20 and beyond, and you will still have points left over.

I myself have not spent a single penny on the game and am already level 15.
I did have to grind for a while to unlock all that TP, but I wanted to see if it could be done and it can indeed be done.

So either pay and don't grind, or grind and don't pay.

Since you know there are many threads about this subject, what have you learnt from them? There are a few threads on the forum which actually break down the cost of the individual adventure packs and also there is a thread which has a pretty detailed review on each packs.

Your question of whether or not it is worth playing without paying is moot. If you are not intending to pay a single cent, why do you care whether or not it is worth playing? You are not losing any thing except probably your time but since you are looking to play MMOs anyway, it's not a big deal is it?

Unless you are already spending money on this game, questioning whether or not it is worth it is not the question you should be asking. The developers aren't benefiting from you so whether or not you leave "because it's not worth playing because it is free" doesn't concern them.

Anyhow, are there any other MMORPGs out there which gives you the quality of a paid game while itself being free? Because if you can find a different MMORPG which is worth playing for free, you know you can just up and leave right?

I'm sorry of this post sounds harsh or mean but I feel that if one isn't paying for something, he has no right to ask whether or not it's worth it, etc. In my opinion, beggars can't be choosy. I'm not saying you are one but if you are not going to pay, just keep quiet and enjoy the game.
