View Full Version : What's good greensteel for a cleric

I'm finally close to enough ingredients for some greensteel items, but I find all the options a little overwhelming for what to make for an item and a weapon. Some advice here would be appreciated. I generally use a heavy mace so I guess I'd go with that, and for clothing/jewellery I'll take whatever seems best, the main question is what's best to put on them for your standard healing cleric.
Thanks
Sig

kinda open to alot of ideas there, for example how do you use yer heavy mace?
i like to swing mine from left to right, with a dose of acid, and maybe a superior pot. to back it up.

SInce I have no idea what your definition of a "Standard Healing Cleric" is "ll go with the standard I use on My clerics....
Weapon: Holy/+1 Wis/+2 Wis (And if its a melee capable cleric, I go Mineral II even)
1st Wearable:
Googles: Blindness& Disease Immunity +50 SP +100 SP (Int skills for single Shard for Slay Living Guard or CHR Skills with Concordant Opposition for a Dual Shard)

I probably would shy away from Wis +2 on a weapon if they have any plans on getting the rings from ToD.
+2 exceptional stats seem to be the best thing to go on rings.

can you get the charisma on the ring (for dv clerics)
if so i'd go the all wisdom on the weapon, frees up an equipment slot.
for portal beating i have a pos / pos rapier and scimmy and on my healing cleric i prefer my spells to melee.

I disagree SOLELY because if the person is new enough that this is one of his first ingredient using characters I'd not plan on a heavy tower runner. I regret EVERY green steel I made my first cleric, my ranger has had to ahve 2 remade due to changing content.
OP: I would keep it as simple as possible since this is a first high-level cleric. If you have other characters coming up, I'd make the most stuff on the best ones. If you're going to be rolling a new cleric based on the knowledge you've gained with this one, I wouldn't make ANYTHING on this one. Why? For example, we'll use my first cleric. My first drow, the build that unlocked 32 point builds, my first to do most every raid. My second cleric is a ton better, and the larges I spent on a +9 wisdom scepter can't come back, and it was for what 50 spell points or some odd? A 2 dcs on offensive spells that I don't cast anymore. He's a raid healbot at this point.
So if you're planning on leveling others, or a new main is in the future, I'd reconsider. If you are for sure keeping this guy and going with him awhile, awesome, make a +9 mace. It might take 60 days to get a ring, running tower every 3 and if it isn't in your first 20 options....maybe another 60. You can ALWAYS craft a mace with it with the ingredients you have. Also, concordany oppsition items are seeeeeeexxxxaaaayyyy. But quite expensive. If keeping the guy though, crafting one, cleansing one and crafting another puts you on Mary Murphy's Hot Tamale train.

Thanks guys. Good advice Ariel, but it's that sort of bind of I need to farm more stuff - tomes, ingredients, etc - for alts I want to build, including another cleric, but that of course is easier to do with better gear. So catch-22.
And what is the concordant opposition stuff of which you speak?
And yeah, I'm mainly a healbot, who likes a little melee for flavor.

Id just go straight sp, Wiz 6, 50sp, 100sp. On goggles.
Concordant Opposition is a Tier 3 Bonus effect for building your item a certain way. Getting hit has a chance to proc a hit point or spell point buff, and the item also becomes your +6 wis item. Its gonna take you twice as many large ingredients to build it but it frees up some slots and has a great effect for anyone with wisdom and spell points.
You can use this link (http://perfectweb.org/ddo/crafting/base_crafting.php) to daydream about what youd like to build. I dont know who owns it but thanks :D

don't fall in the wiz 6 trap - wiz 6-8 comes on all sorts of other things that are easy to obtain and helpful - put on blindness immunity or +5 reflex or something else.

QFT. Wiz6 is a waste of a Shroud effect........ FOr any Arcane or Cleric or FvS. There are just too many other places to get Wiz 6 , 7 or Archmagi now. you wont end up using the wiz 6 onthe shroud item.

Goggles: cuz there is no standard set of goggles that clerics use. I put my +6 WIS goggles there.
I also made boots, but that's me. I haven't got to weapon yet.

2 of my Clerics have concordant opposition items-I wish my 3rd had it. 2 cleric use the goggle slot, the melee cleric uses gloves. The CO processes alot for me and my play style, I might even make a 2nd for my melee or I guess get the torque from DQ- but my slots are limited.
All 3 have wis sceptre and random clickies for haste and Neg/Neg for symbol of weakness, one has superior void lore on bracers.
I am thinking of making a lightning 2 q staff for the new content since even at lvl 20 with full Spell Pen and Max DC in different schools--spells don't work so reliably
